Today I decided to continue my new series on how to use power tools. I brought it all the way back to the beginning by explaining how to use an electric drill- probably one of the first ‘power tools’ most people will use.
This series will be geared toward beginners, but I hope all of you can gain some value/tips/tricks in following along.
How To Power Tool Playlist- • Power Tools Made Easy
Toolbox- Dewalt 20v Drill- amzn.to/2KjGTj0
Bio: Handymom Vlog- Hi, I'm Katie! I'm a carpenter turned stay at home mom to a beautiful little girl named Devin. Now I use my construction skills to remodel our home (veeeeeeery slowly) and also do some DIY home decor projects.
Thanks for watching!!

I’m 75, not 19. My husband has passed away. He had a furniture shop but I never paid attention to tools because he did such a great job and did everything in the house. Now I am alone and have to do things myself. Honestly, I didn’t know how to use an electric drill. So thanks! I have been watching tutorials and you are so sweet with clear explanations. I would watch anything you put up. BTW I saw your video about how you lost your fingers. Thanks for that too.

I am in the same predicament. Lost my husband who was an excellent DIYer and an engineer, there are so many tools in his workshop, I have no idea what they are or what they do. My efforts at drilling have not been very successful and the costs rack up every time you pay someone to do a job. Thanks to the OP for this very clear explanation, I am ready to have another go now!

Same here even if it’s 2 years later! I love the simplicity and the not taking for granted we know what switches, parts, settings, tools have. I’ve been doing simple woodwork for a couple of years but I’m still learning every time I do a new project, I’m amazed at how easy it is to follow your instructions and visually understand how to use this tool, been watching other diy video creators and even a lot of women are too technical to understand or make me feel like there’s no point when I see their perfect workshop and tools on the opposite hand, I find the majority of women diy’ers content is about furniture flipping, bargain repurposing to make pretty housy things like trays or spice racks😂😂 nothing wrong with that but personally I’m trying to learn how to make furniture, doors, sheds 😂!! Thank you for the video and you have gained a subscriber

Exactly what I’ve been looking for! I too had a husband who just walked around the house handily fastening anything necessary in the right place-but we split, then he died, then I had to find a handyman and pay him to do this stuff. I don’t want or need another husband-I just need to know how to use the damned drill! Thank you! These were questions so basic I felt like an idiot asking them of the Home Depot salesmen. Also, attaching and removing the bit finally makes sense, and it reminds me of affixing attachments to a Kitchenaid mixer. Sort of. You rock!

I'm subscribing . I love the honesty and humor u put w it. I never thought I'd be giggling at a tool tutorial. I do love my drill but I've been wondering if I needed a hammer drill as I have alot of concrete and heavy duty BIG metal garage that I'm trying to put a kayak rack hook on. My drill says it's strong enough but I just assumed I wasn't strong enough to get it through. I've tried many many times. Also I never knew about the # speed thing so I'm very glad I watched as I will be putting an anchor for a heavy mirror and I definitely want the screws to stick and help the anchor . And PS ...your freaking adorable ( like daughter or favorite niece way not stalker way ) I'm gonna save these videos for my daughter who is 19 if she ever needs them. Great beginners videos. Tanks toots!!

This is the 5th tile project we've done where we've removed the old tile before installing new tile, and the first one with this tool kzbin.infoUgkxqqoaX03nrziKwF7Bjjcc71YzLEleMvOS . I want to cry for all the unnecessary work we've done in the past. With this tool, we removed tile surrounding a fireplace, as well as the hearth tile, set in loads of cement, in less than an hour. I highly recommend this tool. It was easy to use, and very satisfying watching the tile literally fall off the wall.

Thank you so much! I see many people here are very beginners with power tools......I as well. I’m 75 years old and never used a drill before. It took me a long time to find someone who actually explained how to do everything step by step and what direction and what number etc. The men showed how to open the box, and then jumped to drilling holes! But the titles of their videos were how to use the drill. Too funny. Most people know it drills holes or screws things in or out. But getting the bit in, getting the right direction button......seriously, that’s teaching how to use it. Those other videos should have titles like “ watch me drill holes” ...🤪. Thanks for this. Very helpful.

I’m in the same position as other women: 68 and widowed. I was using my drill and it wasn’t going through the wood and just smoking. So you answered my question and I was able to drill a hole in to put in a knob on my kitchen drawer. Love your demonstrations so much better than the Dewalt demonstrator who was wearing safety goggles and gloves for the demonstration. And nobody’s changing the focus on the camera so you couldn’t see what he was doing. You get an A+

Drilling and screwing are just 2 things a drill can do, try using that cordless drill in the kitchen ! Need a lot of freshly ground salt/pepper/whatever ? Attach the drill to shaft of the mill! Just start off easy to find the best speed for the mill (it's not 'full power' !) and you'll be able to grind the entire contents of it in under a minute. (Works a LOT better than those derpy electric mills too .. ) Mixer just too flimsy or the the cord gets in the way ? Just stick the attachment in the drill! Got one of those handle operated cheese graters ? Cordless drill! Various brush attachments available too (great for BBQ cleaning). I honestly use my drill more in the kitchen than for chores. Even my 70 y/o mother who loves to cook went 'Ok that's actually handy' after initially facepalming in disappointment when i pulled out the drill when she complained about hurting arms when using the pepper mill but then watched me grind a whole bottle of pepper corns in under a minute by just attaching the drill to the top.

I am so delighted to have found your channel on youtube with a very quick and easy search! Not to be sexist, but gender does play a role in the transmission of knowledge and skill. I am a woman who is brand spanking new to power tools. I very much appreciate your approach being geared towards women. I want to learn how to use power tools for "handywoman" maintenance around my house and for refurbishing old solid wood furniture for resale as a side hustle now that I am retired. I want to learn from a woman, not a man, and there! I've said it! I love that you are there to help people like me who do not know a screwdriver from a ...
