i have the answer for your mate who had that problem on the 5 story building where his moulding came off in a storm (9 minute mark in video)...you dont need scaffolding. In these situations, the best solution is to get a professional rope access tradesman in to complete the task. I have done plenty of rendering off ropes...its difficult work and takes a lot of practise, but a rope guy who knows what he is doing would easily be able to re-apply those foam mouldings in just a few hours for probably a couple of grand! All in all however, this is a great video Kirt, i love the way you teach and I continue to learn new things from you every video. Thanks for your knowledge and experience.

Evening Adam, thank you, my friend. I have worked off an 18 story building hanging from ropes connected to a long plank. I should have died for doing such an incredibly foolish thing for money. Many years back, when I didn't know fear. Personally, I’m a plasterer, not a stuntman, You, my friend, are the big kahuna with bigger kahonas, than my friend or me, as I consider this idea, suicide that's earned. Most would not have noticed or cared I was working on a slanted roof that was foolish enough but to hang 5 stories with tool belt pouches, with even the world's safest harness, I say it can't be done.😉🍻

A client wants to wrap her stucco house in 2" rigid foam board insulation. It's one story. Will polybond do the trick? or do we need to also use nails. Nails are a hassle because we have to pre-drill.
@StuccoPlastering2 ай бұрын
At the ricks of sounding rude, that a very foolish thing to do. As the consequences of that action would be far too time consuming to explain here. Tell her you can pressure wash it and paint it or color coat it with either a cementitious color finish or acrylic stucco finish. If you put one to 2 inches of anything over a stucco finish what happens or how do you deal with the windows, doors vents now being out of plumb. Or the thousands of holes now in the stucoo walls or ………….🕵🏼♀️

@@StuccoPlastering Here in the Desert Southwest, there are many old adobe homes that are retrofitted with exterior insulation like this. Especially with these old cinder-block houses that have been stuccoed over. The entire house is wrapped in wire mesh (nailed in), but first, the 1.5 or 2" rigid foam board insulation is applied. The outlets have to be extended, and the vents are just recessed, the hose bibs have to be extended and the main breaker panel is usually framed around and boxed in. We use structolite for the scratch and brown, then the color coat.

Thank you very much for taking the time to respond to me. Jacob
@StuccoPlastering Жыл бұрын
Hi Jacob, that depends on how the molds were attached. You can saws-all them off, and reinstall afterwards. Or simply destroy them and buy new ones at a plastering material yard. We got beat up a couple years back when we said we'd remove all the molds as the folks didn't like them. They had stucco metal wire netting, we couldn't even remove the finish with new blades. I had to leave them on and go around them. There are many ways to skin a cat and one has to improvise. 🕵🏼

Hi Jacob, we work in that area; when cutting styrofoam molds, we use a sawzall with the longest blades possible to remove them if we want to reinstall them.
