I remember when I was younger I wanted to get into this. Then finally when I was in Highschool in 2007 my Stepdad and I pulled the trigger. We were halfway done with building it and he passed away from a bad heart. I never finished the plane as I couldn't bare to look at it. I really wish I would have stuck to it.

I have mine built but in lockdown so I have time to add some details like exhaust pipes and a 3D printed radial engine and landing lights. I had a Corsair but when landing from the east it disappeared when dropping in front of the trees and I flew it into the ground.

Looks like it flies very nicely. I had an f6f built from a great planes kit many years ago, with an OS91 four stroke. Beautiful flier. I do think scale models should have engines rather than electric power plants though 😁

Glad to see you did a follow up video. What a beautiful plane. Again, its nice to see you flying it with electric instead of fuel. I made the switch a few years ago and do not regret it. I remember battling many cranky engines. I think mostly it was because I got hand me down engines from my brother's wrecked planes. A bent shaft never hurt anyone right. Nice flying! I bounce on landing because I am used to dirt or grass runways, not paved. I fly at a glider field and really enjoy it. No trees!

Nice video! One of these came available for sale here in NC. With that said…are the wings and fuse fully sheeted with balsa that a fiberglassing job would be straight forward? Thanks

Hanger 9 planes are top of the line models. He didn't go cheap with anything although most guys swear by Futaba. Spektrum has really come a long way. He stayed away from the safe receiver which in my book is the smart move here. He didn't need it anyways. Eather way, soup to nuts including transmitter, receiver , battery, plane and other electronics probably close to $1,500- $1,800. Still cheaper than fuel powered engine. Would have pushed it well over 2k.

This may be a silly question but why do these aircraft only have a twin bladed prop instead of the 3 bladed the real thing has ?
@HobbyView4 жыл бұрын
You can put a 3-blade on it. However, two blades are more efficient. I had actually planned to try a three blade propeller on it but couldn't due to technical reasons.
@fredrcorlp81544 жыл бұрын
I have flown mine with a 15 x 7 x3 prop and a 16 x 8 prop. The two blade prop gave me a much better performance and three extra minutes of flight time with a 6S-5000 Smart battery.

Robert Sims. I just turned 75, and started flying RC 4 years ago. My instructor at the time advised me to get a simulator and I said..."Oh!"...I hesitated for a few days and then broke down and bought one. I purchased a Real Flight 7.5, about 4 years ago and it was the best investment to help me in the beginning. Now that we are just sitting around a lot, I find my self on the sim more often. Even during these first 4 years I will get on the sim and just practice. Right now I want to learn 3D flying so the sim is a help along with having a small foam 3D craft. Hope this helps Bob.

A little pudgy like the Wildcat but way more capable. A guy up the road had one in the late-70's--a real one. And he had an engine failure coming back from an airshow in Washington after refueling in Portland. Almost home...and he and the plane got pretty messed up... Maybe 15 years ago I got a tour and got to sit in that plane. As of ~2 years ago the plane was bought/retrieved and is headed towards a flight-ready restoration. I don't know that I've seen a Hellcat at at an airshow in 40 years but if I see this one fly again its going to be through tears.
