No one provides such detailed and insightful content like you. Another awesome video. Really appreciate your honest review at 1:27:15 , it’s so rare. hi Brian.. thanks for the new video...glad to see you moving up in the world LOL..thanks camera crew for the superb filming.. all 6 hours of it...`glad to see you also human that crashes airplanes...i just got a old (but new condition) eflite pitts bi-plane about a week ago, and very similar to your crash on flight 4 ... i had on my bi-plane.. but a bit of CA and a drop of paint and she looks like new again.. balsa planes still very nice but the risk on them are a lot more then a foamy... i believe that a balsa plane makes you a better pilot because you know with a foamy.. you crash (and i don`t mean destroy) you can always hotglue the thing back together, where with balsa its not that easy...so i found that flying balsa, you either need to be spot on, be on top of your game or just fly your foamy... and the day that you do get it all 100%, makes it so much more rewarding then a foamy. .. you know after a silk smooth butter landing and you taxi back and the club guys are clapping for you and you get those adrenaline shakes afterwards... that is what is the best part of this hobby.

Yea Brian, the packaging could’ve been properly reinforced and secured much better…. I agree, I do believe there is too much weight in on the motor box for just so cardboard insert… and a piece of plywood stopping the from coming through the front of the box… they could have molded a stir o foam insert and used a zip tie around the motor section… I’m sure they will be on it on the next batch they ship out…👍🏻

This thing looks like a monster to fly, for its price range I’d say this plane has much more power than the e-flite fw-190. If I were to buy one I would still get the e-flite fw-190 because I don’t have the will power to buy something that has the possibility of shattering with a small crash, but this plane looks like it has more performance and a larger size for its price range compared to the fw-190

Brian Phillip's RC - I have an AR636A reciever that came out of the Eflite P47 Razorback that I no longer have. Do you think that I could use it in the Hanger 9 P47 Thunderbolt and it would fly good without re- programming it and not change any gains? I feel that it would do real good without changing anything.

It looks like it wouldn't be that hard to simply cut the ailerons to split them into outboard aileron and inboard flaps. Add two servo's and your good to go. This would require a 7 channels unless you put them both on Y adapters which I don't like. It would be better to have full span ailerons when you want it. I'm wondering how this compares to the Commander on 4S. Don't know what the weight difference is but these two planes look very similar and I really like the commander. Of course the commander has the outboard ailerons like you desire. What do you think? I really would like a balsa version of the Commander and this looks so similar. I like having full separate flaps on landing the commander because it just keeps floating on me otherwise. The only thing I don't like is the stripes on the top of the wing. I'm used to seeing stripes like that on the bottom of the wing and that would mess with my orientation. I would have to remove the stripes on the top and put them on the bottom.

I’ve owned this plane twice now because I tried to fly it before I had the skills to fly it, so don’t buy this plane unless you are confident in your skills as a pilot. I’m not going to say it’s a hard plane to fly because it isn’t, once you get your settings correct and your CG in the right spot it will fly great. 6s 5,000 almost all the way forward with 70% rates and 20% expo will have everything nice and soft for you. The gains they suggest aren’t correct either, I ended up with 50,81,25 to get it to fly without over correcting on the roll axis. My flapperons worked well at -35 -5 & -85 -8, this gives you an up mix with your elevator because flapperons will make the nose dive. On 6s in a down slope not a full on dive the GPS on this bird went 107 mph, flat and level it would hit 95 all day long. It is amazingly fast and it definitely doesn’t fly like a foamy. On a 6s 5,000 horsing it around with some speed passes I had only consumed 2,500mah at 6 minutes so this plane could probably go 8 minutes without issue. Brian great videos and camera crew great job as always.

It was cold. They're Nitrite Gloves, and they will help keep your hands warm without giving up dexterity. When it gets REAL cold, I'll wear 2 or 3 pairs and I'll be able to fly in -10 to -20 F

Wooden RC planes. What will they think of next? Wooden props??? Sorry, now I’m just making shit up. Foam, carbon fiber, and lots of CA/Hot Glue/Kicker. That’s what I call an afternoon!

Hey Brian,please don't take this the wrong way,but I think for newer pilots or older(lol)you should do the setups right from the manual to show how factory setups work,then if you want to experiment do that after,flaperons,hole settings on horns anything else you would change.I think more people want to see factory settings out of the box and manual,that would show how right or wrong the company is with their manuals,again I don't want to pee on your parade,Richard Webb,Delaware

Some guys fly with 75% Expo and only 60% of the servo way. I don’t like it. It’s like „stirring in the soup“. And well, Balso wood planes are always faster. But I like this new plane. Super nice
@BrianPhillipsRC3 жыл бұрын
I think I would be inclined to just move the servo horns out if I were that high on expo...but also, some of those guys are flying without a stabilizer too...make a huge difference. I want to get this thing dialed in so bad, but the weather has been very uncooperative.

That P47 is a beauty but it needs a 4 stroke glow engine. Sounds all wrong with electric power.

Love your videos, but do you (two) still have time for your kids? (Serious question.) Best regards from Switzerland!
@BrianPhillipsRC3 жыл бұрын
We have 4 kids, and last week was very bad in that regard. We spend like 60 hours on RC stuff...way too busy. We can't do that all the time, and this doesn't include my full time job, and our personal activities that we can't share about (yet - next week we should be able to announce something)
@thelongestday643 жыл бұрын
@@BrianPhillipsRC Yup, that is why I was getting worried about you and your family... you and your wife work really hard on this excellent (THE BEST) RC channel and you work full-time and you have 4 kids (we only have 1 and I feel tired every day...)... be careful, mind your health and take care of your family first, we (the viewers of your channel) can live with a few videos less easily.... all the best from Switzerland!

Brian, Brian, Brian... I have experienced the same thing as you are feeling about that plane and I don't like seeing you feel that way. Landing it there is a handful and it's not your flying skills. They are getting pretty dang good imo. Your flying site is just way too small for a plane of that type and size! You are being too hard on yourself. I've watched you land so many planes there, and time after time marveled that you get them down in one piece. The approaches are too high and short coming over the trees, and your actual runway is WAY too short! The margin for error on approach is so narrow, it makes you force the landing with no room to bleed off the airspeed and grease it in. My RC runway is 365' long and 65' wide, with short grass (way easier to land on) and a tree line to my right about twice as far away as yours. To the left I have a 1000' to the trees, but I'm coming in over our horse pasture and a fence. So I have longer approaches and a longer runway, and aerobatic planes that weigh 7 pounds with a 60" wingspan or bigger feels tight to land there. I can easily fly and land them. But tight approaches give you one line in, and if you are less than perfect, it's a struggle. More to the point, I bought the E-flite Havoc Xe EDF jet, and it's a breeze to fly for me. But I was STRUGGLING with the landings. I took it to a big blacktop parking lot with sight lines to forever, and had no problem greasing it in nose high on the mains to a rollout until the front wheel touched. It needed a longer, lower approach, AND time in the flair to settle over the runway. You need more room my friend, sincerely Sam Hallstrom. Btw, I really enjoy your in depth videos! PS. I was a Delaware RC member (before I moved to Wisconsin) and we had a 750' long grass runway. THAT was nice!
@BrianPhillipsRC3 жыл бұрын
Thanks Sam! I realize we're cramped, but it is AMAZING to fly from here - not sure if you know this yet, but we bought the property next to ours and now we have almost 23 acres, but still won't have QUITE that much room for landings....and even if I did, it'll be for FULL SCALE flying. It might sound crazy, but I like the challenge, but we have some trees that could come down and make another approach. Trouble we have is when the wind isn't helpful, it's actually pretty tough, and most pilots don't get it until they're in a 360 or 720 degree base leg turn in the "bowl" - LOL ;) BUT I love it this way...low margins for error do make for higher consequence flying, and I would LOVE to have the 40 Acres across the road some day too...then I could put in a 1500+ foot long runway at almost 90 degrees off our primary runway...how many runways on one property before it's a TRUE airport???? LOL Thanks for the encouragement, and for being here with us!

I'm happy it's balsa, but that's one ugly looking version of the p47, reminds me of the dynamite fun scale planes.
