devon grubb thanks mate I appreciate it, I’ve done some plaster work since they super glued their initials onto the wall and I didn’t come off easily, replaced a spindle on the bannister that their dog chewed (with help but I’m learning 😂) and replaced all the downstairs outlets and light switches so far, stressful but rewarding! Next job is chasing a channel to upstairs for some cat7 cables before I paint the downstairs, appreciate your comment 🖤

Thanks for the video which gave me some very good tips. One thing that may be worth mentioning is to check the D-loops on the back of the mirror are at the same height either side. I've just hung two mirrors and both were out of alignment by 3-4mm so I had to compensate when drilling the holes.

I trash picked a large mirror recently out by the dumpster. Mirror and frame together measure 34 1/4”(87 cm) x 1/2”(1.27 cm) x 52 1/4” (132.72 cm). So therefore it is quite heavy. But on the back, there is a 2 1/2”(6.35 cm) x 3/4”(1.91 cm)x 52” (132.08 cm)mounting board with three hooks screwed in with which to hang the mirror. You recommend the use of plaster board screws that can be driven directly into the plaster board. Interesting that! Looking at my arrangement, I assumed that it would require thick nails that would have to be driven directly into the studs as my mirror is too heavy to be supported by the plaster board (or what we call drywall in the states). But that would be the next owner’s problem, as all I want to do is re-staple the back particleboard to hold the mirror in place, before I donate it. Therefore, I’m surprised that your large mirror is supported only by two picture hooks with a thick string running between them. I’m assuming your mirror glass is not as heavy as what I have.

Another little tip boys is to use an envelope stuck under the drill hole,i normally put it about an inch under the drill hole mark,i use masking tape to stick the envelope rather than using the envelope sticky strip if new,because that can be too sticky and take your wall paper or paint with it when taking it off again,i use masking or painters tape and stick it to your trouser leg or sleeve a few times to take some of the glue off and that will make it just tacky. I fined it a lot easier my way than using a little hover as in the video when drilling and i'm not knocking that way at all,my way you have your other hand free but at the end of the day it's courses for horses which method you would like to use. Thanks for sharing Scouse (Spend Time,Save money,DIY) as it's much appreciated and i hope you didn't mind me sharing my little tip,even though most DIYers probably knew it anyways but there might be one who didn't. 😉 Much love and respect from an East Coast southerner in the UK who has just subscribed to your channel. ✊🏾💪🏾👍🏾👍🏾👍🏾😉

Hey kiddo, I need a professional to teach me how to hang a mirror & found your video! I'll watch it again just to make sure I do it correctly. I'll probably watch it a few times. I've been a professional window tinter for 32 years. Anyone can tint a window or hang a mirror or paint a room. But to do it well you ask a professional. Thank you for the lesson! If you're interested in sage advice keep reading.👩‍🦳 I use a small foldable table to put my tools, tint & etc on. With the exception of a heat gun & extension cord. My tools need to be super clean. Yours do not & understandably are not. Of course if this is your home & can put your possibly dirty tools on the furniture or anywhere you please. Respectfully, R.L.A.

Hi, I just moved and I am planning to hang a heavy mirror onto two existing screws on the wall. They were previously used for a picture that the landlord installed. Is it advisable if the two screws sit a lot closer than the full width of the mirror? I notice the screws also do not come with the red drywall anchor (?) you used in the video. Is it safe to proceed? Thanks very much for sharing your expertise.

Hi mate thanks for sharing that I have question please I have same mirror size I need to install it vertically and I don’t want to drill the wall Would u reckon if I put it on the skirting and put strong sticky hooks on the top would be ok ? so the weight will be on skirting and hooks on the top sides only to prevent it from tipping over What do u reckon Thanks
@spendtimesavemoneydiy
@spendtimesavemoneydiy 2 жыл бұрын
Personally I would always fit it properly on the wall. I don't trust sticky hooks because they are only as strong as what they are stuck to. Flaky plaster or flaky paint and the mirror could fall and injure someone.

Love the markings on the level! Just some feedback on some adds based on questions I had while watching the video. When you measured from the top of the mirror to the hooks, which part of the eye did you measure to? I assumed it was to the top but it might be good to get a shot from above to show the measurement. I'm not sure if i missed it but did you explain why you needed the hammer drill, how and why you used the tape on the bit, and what you would do differently if you had plasterboard. You chose a very difficult method. Why not use hanging wire, two strands. Find two appropriate studs. Attach hanging wire to the picture or mirror loops, enough to establish two strands, but one continuous wire. Set the proper screws for weight. Then attach one wire across to one screw, with the second wire across to the second screw. Remember, the wire is one continuous strand laced through each picture or mirror ring. The wires create a self leveling system that take half the time in setup and measurement, and never will be out of balance. The heavier the hung object ( mirror, picture, etc.) the thicker the hanging wire, and the heavier weight screw. You can hang 50 lbs, 100lbs, whatever, by dividing the weight to each screw (50/2=25lbs weight on each screw, or, 100/2=50lbs weight on each screw). I have used this method for decades. I’m 70.

Hi mate, I’ve got a large mirror similar to your size to hang on a plasterboard wall and I’ve bought ‘Rawl Plug metal self drill plasterboard’ fixings but not sure if they’ll be strong enough what do you reckon? Or shall I get the plasterboard anchors you mentioned in the video?
