I have this small motor, my 14' fiberglass boat reaches 4 knots with 4 persons on board without problems. The maintenance is very simple and the fuel consumption is around 3/4 lt/ hour

I received my identical 4T 4HP engine as yours I installed it and after a few tests it moves my small boat quite well except that I have a small problem when I accelerate without putting the propeller button down I can not accelerate otherwise the engine stops and stalls but if I put the propeller system, button down, I can accelerate fully ... I do not understand why this problem I hope I will not have to return it ... what do you think?

My dad bought one of these little guys as a backup, our honda 9.9 and 15 have never had issues so this has been in the box, seems like a decent little motor for a paddle boat or small boat. Hondas will easily push 10 mph even with a 4-5hp engine. These Chinese motors seem to not have water cooling which is a big downside, an impeller or vac driven pump would be a very simple add on to help the motor run cooler. Appears to be air cooled only.

The smaller Hangkai motors 4hp (actually more like 2hp) are air-cooled, 6hp and up are water-cooled and come as both 2 stroke and 4 stroke motors. One benefit with air cooled motors are less things that can go wrong.

@@GurrasGarage Yeah its a GXV50 clone (like you said in your other video).... 2hp. Same thing as in a sportsman weedeater and any number of other small 2hp yard tools.

Have you given thought to motor swapping? Reusing the lower unit but using a larger horizontal shaft motor?

Recently gifted myself this motor for my Sun Dolphin American 12 plastic Jon boat. Completed break in period (10 Hours) and replaced top and lower oils. Motor starts in first or second pull. The issue I encounter is that when I try to go full throttle, it kinds of stalls a little, like it revs down instead of up. This happenes when twisting throttle above 3/4 to full. Any recommendations??? TY

Could be lots of things, Chinese sparkplugs are not the best, I switched to NGK sparkplug that helped my motor to run more smoothly. I have a video on this its in the playlist somewere

@@GurrasGarage I did indeed installed the NGK spark plug. Not sure if I want to attempt to adjust the carburetor screw. Running out of ideas.
