If Aaron had played his entire career in the giant media market of NYC there would have been a famous folk song written about him. He had a better career than Mantle, better than DiMaggio. If you take away all of the home runs he hit, he would still have over 3,000 hits. Arguably the greatest baseball career in history.

@@benjaminpease5297 Very true. It's largely b/c they both played in smaller media markets.

The integration of the Major leagues was not good for Black Americans. Blacks own there teams then and many were very successful. Now we own nothing.

I'm sure Hank all the white players had lots of money when they left home to break into the majors. And you played 23 years had almost 3965 more at bats than Ruth . But only broke his record by 41 more home runs. What should be taken into consideration concerning record in baseball. Should the color of your skin or your nationality be listed with the record? Should the year in which the record was set be listed? I believe that everybody that cheated the game should be banned from it. Alex, Barry, Mark, Sammy, Roger you get the idea. And Reggies fielding percentage was a joke! I would be interested to hear how you feel about these issues Hank! Where should the lines be drawn?

Why do you think that players that used PEDs should be banned from baseball? People always forget about the fact that Ivan Rodriguez got into the Hall of Fame but was a known steroid user. Should he be banned from baseball even though he got into the Hall of Fame?

Bullwinkle 119..I don't know your age but did you see hank Aaron play during the 1960s?.. if you did you would have known about the great pitchers during that era....... I will let you look that up.?the babe was a pretty big guy during his time..the average size of major league players was only 5 feet 7 inches

BABE RUTH WAS ALSO A PITCHER FOR A FEW YEARS. I HAVE THIS ARGUEMENT WITH PEOPLE WHO HAVE NO IDEA HANK ARON GOT CLOSE TO 4000 MORE TRIES AT THE FENCES THAN BABE RUTH DID. ALSO TAKE INTO ACCOUNT WHEN RUTH PLAYED IT WAS IN THE DAYS OF THE DEAD BALL AND LONGER FENCES. WHEN HANK ARON PLAYED IT WAS IN THE DAYS OF THE LIVELY BALL AND SHORTER FENCES

HANK ARON PLAYED IN THE DAYS OF THE LIVELY BALL AS OPPOSED TO BABE RUTH IN THE DAYS OF THE DEAD BALL. HANK ARON GOT UP CLOSE TO 4000 TIMES MORE THAN BABE RUTH. HANK ARON PLAYED IN THE DAYS OF SHORTER FENCES BABE RUTH PLAYED WITH LONGER FENCES. BABE RUTH WAS A PITCHER FOR YEARS AND A VERY GOOD ONE. THE GREATEST BASEBALL PLAYER OF ALL TIME IS BABE RUTH. THERE WAS ONLY ONE AND THAT IS ALL.

Ya that is why Ty Cobb would go to their games and often sit on the bench with the players. He liked their style of play and may have patterned some of this play after them. Even he knew they were at least equal.
