Yes Don, I do cry and laugh. When you know a song well, you know the meaning (or think you do). I just sit back and watch you react. I amazes me how much you pick up from hearing it the first time. As you know, some songs will rip your heart out. You are good at mixing it up with fun songs here and there. Also, your Country Heart Collection keeps it from just being songs about making it in this world. It is a daily struggle that we all have. How we handle our struggles varies but music helps me. Sometimes I need the sad songs. We all love and lose in one way or another. Love the channel. Thanks Don.

Hey Don, The first thing I thought of when I heard it was "is it about Keith Whitley? But I guess not looks like was written for TG Sheppard. What a sad way to live your life. Your comment about what type of songs he likes to preform reminded me of an interview Trace Adkins did. He said he met Hank Jr. when he was young. Him & his mom got to go on the tour bus. He sang Eleven Roses (A slow ballad) to them. When Trace made it big & met him again. He told him about meeting him before & him singing Eleven Roses. Hank’s response was “Thank God I don’t have to sing that shit no more”.

This performance was on the CMT Outlaws Concert. And no they did not close the show with it. It also featured Kid Rock, Shooter Jennings, Jessi Colter, Gretchen Wilson, Big & Rich, Tanya Tucker, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Montgomery Gentry, and James Hetfield. The opening number of all them doing All My Rowdy Friends Are Coming Over was totally kick a$$.
@Gary_0074 жыл бұрын
I am a Hank Jr. fan. I have seen him in concert 3 times. I enjoy his "Rowdy Friends" party songs, but his best work are the ballads he has done. Major Moves is his best, with Eleven Roses and Man of Steel close behind. I have gotten the impression from some of his comments that the ballads are where his heart is, but most his fans like the party songs.

I love the music of Hank Jr. but on this particular song I think the original by T. G. Sheppard outranks Hank's cover. Hank is stellar at Heaven Can't be Found, Rainin' in my Heart, Eleven Roses and Country Boy Can Survive but it is my opinion that T. G. Sheppard has THE version of Devil in the Bottle. BTW, this song was written by Bobby David.

Good reaction, great song, I didn't know Hank did this song, I only knew it by an artist named T.G. Sheppard, and I honestly think T.G. did a better job on this than Hank, not saying Hank did a bad job, he didn't, I just think that T.G.'s voice is better suited to this type of song than Hank's. I would suggest you check out T.G.'s version, even if you don't do a video about it. He also had several big hits back in the day, you could react to some of them, "I loved them Every One", "Do You Wanna Go to Heaven", "Only One You", "Last Cheater's Waltz", to name a few.
