Hank! I followed this video step-by-step to replace my Badger 9-1 with a WasteKing L-8000. Installation took less than an hour, and I am VERY HAPPY with the results! I paid $121 (plus tax) on amazon for my unit, and this is my very first garbage disposal installation. I was going to replace my old unit with a newer badger unit from home depot. 1HP units cost over $200, and don't seem to last as long. You saved me a ton of money, and I can't thank you enough! THANKS!

Warranty on Waste King is very good; 20 years for the original owner of the residence (non-transferrable to new owner is one downside). My L8000 just died after 11 years, and Waste King sent me a brand new one overnight (I did pay $25 for expedited shipping; 7-10 days shipping is free). They also pay up to $150 labor for a plumber to replace the unit.

I had one like that that made a loud noise after 3 years of use the company is based in O C and they gave me a replacement free of charge. A very good company.

Our builders grade badger went out and we just ended up buying a higher end Badger one so we didnt have to wory about replacing the entire sink mount.

Replacing sink and reusing the 4yr old waste king. Thanks couldn't remember how the mounting flange came off. BTW who puts bones down a disposal?? Have a great day!

That’s a interesting set up, typically how I see it in my state is garbage disposal are hard wired to the power and there is not a outlet under the sink. And it’s on its own circuit. Maybe building local codes were different Yah garbage disposal installation are pretty easy. This one you didn’t need any plumbers putty. Good deal Grind away.

I bought this disposal with a separate black sink flange to match the sink, however the new sink flange isn’t threaded like the one that comes with the disposal. Do you know if I can use the new sink flange?

Is Waste King 8000 the same with L-8000? Also I think for Waste King 8000 (or L-8000) it would require the EZ-Mount which is not compatible with InSinkErator disposer mounting assembly, right? Thanks!

You can if you want, but the instructions say you can use either or. Mine has held up fine since this video.

what makes it last. no surges of load and a lot of water. 1hp needs a lot of water. like fill the sink up with water. then release the cap. as soon as all the water is gone. that's it.. turn it off. doesn't matter what you buy. no surge in load.. plenty of water.

Yea that was one of my main annoyances with it. My faucet just doesn’t put enough water out, I got a half horse model, haven’t installed yet but hopefully it works out better. These 1 horse units are probably more suited to commercial applications

I can tell you for sure...corn silk, potato skins, cucumber peelings, coffee grounds are BIG NO-NOs going into a garbage disposal.....ummm, killed mine and replaced it with the Badger 3/4 hp.....its super quiet but does not jam for nothing

Those should all be relatively easy for most disposers, minus corn silk. I can promise ive put much worse down ares with no problems. The old disposers hates stuff like that, but as long as its pretty new you should be ok.

Don’t put bones in it. I’d like to slap people today who do this. These machines are meant for simple stuff only. We give our bones to the critters outside and most meat scraps to our dog and cats.

The manufacture says that it’s acceptable to do so with this model, you should call them up and voice your frustration with them.
