I think the people who are saying that this particular comedians approach to humor didn’t hit home with them are forgetting that not everyone has to like everything. Different people like different things. This applies to many situations, and what constitutes comedy is just one of many. I’d even go further and ask how dull would it be, if everyone liked the same things? It would be a dreadfully boring lack of differences in opinions, thoughts, perspectives, experiences, etc. It’s quite nice actually - being confronted with things you don’t like make you appreciate the things you like more. Similar to how black complements white… White and other other colors make a nice contrast, but put it up against black, and that white shines.
