I currently work in medical affairs as a technical consultant but my degree is simply a BEc. After working in this space for almost a year and a half I am finding myself drawn to HEOR. . For so many reasons. I think to find meaningful work I’ll need a higher level degree. Do you find this accurate? I can pursue a masters level degree pretty feasibly and I hope with my consulting experience I could work my way into a health economics research position somewhere. What I do is essentially data analysis for medical field teams. I help map MSL coverage geographically, crunch data to help identify top KOLs to engage with, etc etc. So nothing actually science based, purely technical. However I have been conducting my own research to familiarize myself with the various disease states and therapeutics my customers are involved with. I do not feel enough challenge in my current role so I need to pursue something more. . . Way too much context later.. do you think I could find work with a MEc but no real medical experience? Thank you for your time and this video. I find QALY’s fascinating from what little I understand. It seems like a highly subjective system of measurement for such important decisions. But that’s why we have health economists no?

A Masters Programme could be a good way to go. You could do this part-time over a couple of years alongside your work.

Hello Hannah, I'm interested in a career in health economics, could you advise on the different areas of health economics?

It is a little hard to advise without knowing a little more about your interest. But I would suggest looking at the courses from LSE www.lse.ac.uk/lse-health/research/Health-Economics
