Okay the Doterra oil thing made me DROP MY JAW onto the floor! Just to give an idea, in France there is a brand called Compagnie des Sens that sells incredibly high quality ORGANIC essential oils and they have, a Damascus Rose oil that is rare and high quality it's truly incredible honeslty, I've been using it for years. That oil, is 31,90€ for 2.5ml so it would be 63,80€ for 5ml. The Doterra one is 464.67€ for 5ml... that is... mind blowing. Truly. I don't understand how people can get scammed like this. It's insanity. Like I can wrap my head around people getting scammed for some MLM products even when they're more expensive than what's on the market, but to that extend?!!! How is that possible? Truly my brain blows up every couple videos Hannah!😂
@theBestElliephant2 ай бұрын
To be fair, the way they "get you" isn't rational. People looking for rose oil aren't going to an MLM, it's people who don't think they need rose oil who get sold on the MLM version, inadequate and impure as it may be.

I know this is 2 years past but I smashed my thumb completely flat in a store safe (huge safe with 6 inch thick door). It was black and 4 X the size of my other thumb for weeks, I lost my nail at least 4 X, then it grew in with ridges for 2 years….Today 29 years later you cannot even tell it happened. The nail even looks better than the other. I of course was treated in an ER that night and had follow ups. What did the DRs do for my miracle (multi year recovery)…..nothing …lots of ice….keep it wrapped so the open nail and skin doesn’t get infected. It throbbed and hurt badly for about 90 days. But that woman likely just needed keep her thumb gently moving (so it doesn’t get stiff) and covered, which it seems like she did before the oils. I’m pretty confident her thumb would have healed the same.

I make soap as a hobby, and have a little education on how oils affect skin. If you have sensitive skin, most fragrance and essential oils will irritate the skin with no carrier. If you have “normal” skin, essential oils like clove, cinnamon, and tea tree can irritate the skin without a carrier. As a hobbyist, I make sure to check with the oil manufacturer on how much base oil (olive/coconut/etc) is needed to offset the skin irritation factor on the oil being used for fragrance. These huns recommending to put essential oils directly on skin are nuts.

@@ericapierson-way213 I just found out one of my friends I made while living in Japan turned into a major DoTerra up line, and we got into the conversation about the digestion of essential oils. She was making cookies with essential oils mixed in, and feeding them to kids. I asked her if she thought it was it was okay (I was under the impression she was a bottom level person and didn’t know better, this was before she told me she was higher up), and she gave me this huge spiel on how “well it’s okay because it’s NATURAL!” and “you’re just listening to propaganda, you should do your own research and decide,” “well the BOTTLE says it’s okay to put in your mouth,” and all of the usual MLM/EO defense tactics. But like you mention with your mom - I REALLY hope no one ends up getting hurt. DoTerra in particular is WAY out of line in telling people that you can ingest these oils. So irresponsible.

@@milkjamjuice Yeah, I tried to have the ingestion talk with my mom the other day, and she's still arguing the fact that "DoTerra oils are PURE. Luckily I made her turkey because when she saw that I grabbed lemon pepper she said she would have just used lemon oil.. and we wouldn't have known any better. I have a two year old. Some essential oils are in fact distilled using alcohol, which thins out blood and slows down the clotting process, causing the person to potentially bleed for longer than necessary. Yes, some EOs have antimicrobial properties, but they are not a suitable replacement for first aid. If you want to know how to handle an emergency situation, please find an accredited first aid course, there are things, such as CPR, that are best learned with practice on a dummy but can save lives.

Unfortunately I ended up developing migraines and I can no longer be around essential oils much at all. I didn’t finish my aroma therapy training, but I went through enough for DoTerra and Young Living to really make me uncomfortable - so much over and incorrect usage of oils - especially with young kids. This is literally the one thing that made me want to make an anti-MLM video. Just to show these two examples, where she shamed a person for doing exactly what she's now using to grow her business. You're the best.

I am able to stay home with my son and have meetings online or in the afternoon… since most people work 9-5 anyway lol … she probably wasn’t getting enough brides, because it’s hard to get out there lol it’s also hard work. Physically and mentally. You have to deal with a lot of different personalities and you’re dealing with someone’s huge day and stress and nerves are usually high.

As a qualified aromatherapist, essential oils should not be stored like that on open shelves. Esssentials oils have a shelf life, some shorter, some longer, but the storage conditions can drastically shorten that shelf life - and using rancid or out of date essentials can drastically increase the risk of a skin reaction!

As somebody that is currently in a severe bout of depression, including moments where it is absolutely scary due to my downward spiral, I get what Dray is saying with the mental health aspects of things. For me, it is difficult to get out of bed and even though I go to bed at a reasonable enough hour, I can't sleep which causes me to not have the energy to even want to wake up the next morning and I oversleep. I have lost interest in a lot of things that did bring me a lot of joy like books and writing. On my absolute worst day, I destroyed one of my bookcases and seriously injured myself in the process because of how bad things had gotten with my mental health. However, I don't like how she's using her past with mental health, skewing around the facts to make it seem like her life was saved by her MLM and suckering vulnerable and at risk people into her downline where the mental health and strain is going to get worse... Especially once these people realize that they are losing money and the friendships they had built up were all fake. Also, as somebody who is currently suffering through a huge mental health crisis. If I were listening to somebody who was literally mocking my issues and saying the most disgusting things- especially at the height of the spiral, it would have pushed me over the edge. Dray needs to realise that mental health is not something to make light of... Especially since allegedly she suffered from mental health before. However, I have heard accusations that she had taken others' stories of mental health and Frankensteined them into her own story, and if this is true... I am disgusted even more by this individual.

Clip 1 - worse, she now hosts a 'therapy talk' time with the downline. I love that you put those back to back!!! Clip 5 Methyl Salicylate aka Ben Gay or Icy Hot!!! That made me laugh the moment I heard her say that was in the first bottle. Clip 7: Bet that she also washed and put fresh bandages on the wound and that's where the saving grace came in. As a person with a diagnosed auto-immune disease, no MLM rep should ever utter the words that their products are good for those diseases. Clearly completely ignorant. This is snake oil, plain and simple. Infuriating!!!!
@TiffWaffles3 жыл бұрын
I had somebody in an MLM that claimed that my autoimmune disorder was caused by chemicals in food and stress. However, the worst group of people I have had to deal with were those predatory all natural stores that claim that if you take their products that it will cure your disease and condition. I once went into such an establishment with my grandma who has a thyroid condition and overheard the lady behind the counter claim that if my grandmother stopped taking her prescribed medication and went on their tablets, that her thyroid condition would be cured... Along with following a strict diet of removing practically everything healthy and going on fermented celery juice. Overheard another person convince a desperate stage two cancer sufferer to stop her treatment to take their products labeled as Cancer on the side of the jar. Unfortunately, the woman listened to the naturopath or whatever they are called over what I as somebody studying biotechnology (at the time) had to say. It's sad to see how many people are out there preying on sick and desperate people that are usually in a life and death struggle, and all for the financial benefit of the predator. Regardless of whether it is an MLM or not... It's heartbreaking, and I have definitely been a victim of that to some magnitude due to my own health condition.

So that doterra hun specifically references that wintergreen oil has methyl salicylate. And peppermint oil(in the aroma blend) has menthol. I do struggle with the oils because I know that throughout history there were many valid ways of treating various ailments before ‘western medicine’ came along. And I resonate with wanting something more natural. But I also know that medicine advanced for a reason, and just because ‘there is an oil for that’ doesn’t mean it’s the best option. Soap box over. Love these videos!

@JuMiKu2 жыл бұрын
The term "Western Medicine" was invented to sell quackery by undermining medicine. There is just medicine, which incorporates everything from all over the world that has been proven to work (and some essential oils have medicinal properties, but that should also make you a bit wary, because they are not harmless). Whatever puts you into a good headspace is valuable as a placebo, but try to pay as little for that as you can.
@mommy2libras8 ай бұрын
Yes and most of those ways had zero to do with oils. There are plenty of plants with some medicinal or therapeutic qualities but processing the everloving sh*t out of them to get some oil will generally kill off any helpful characteristics. There's nothing to struggle with- not one of those oils will help with any actual physical ailment. You may get some aromatherapy type value from them- relaxation or something to wake you up a bit- but that's about it. Well, there is one "medical" use for a couple of them but it's temporary- there are a couple that you can breathe in that may help clear your sinuses for a bit. Menthol is good for that. But you still don't need a 30 dollar oil. You can get a pot of Vicks for like 6 bucks and it has worked for millions of people for decades.

Ya know, the oil MLMs always give me a good laugh because they act like there's no possible way any of this could be bad or cause any sort of allergic reaction for anyone because its "all natural," but I'm sitting over here, allergic to grapefruit and orange extract specifically only on my face, unable to smoke the devil's lettuce because it gives me killer migraines, and if I spend more than 20 minutes locked in close quarters with cats, I start having an extremely severe almost asthmatic reaction to their fur. Its almost like anyone can be allergic to anything, regardless of how natural it is. It probably won't heal me and I could definitely have a bad reaction to it. They're not that great, please calm down, oily babes lol

I’m allergic to capsicums (peppers). The number of people who act like I’m faking it or can’t possibly be allergic to bell peppers, or “how can you not eat Mexican food?” (Or “just pick the peppers out,” like everything wasn’t cooked together,” sigh), or whatever, is kind of scary and kind of annoying. Like you said, people can be allergic to anything. Why is that so hard for them to grasp? ETA: bee stings are “natural,” too, but we all know some are allergic to them (as I am). Wool is a natural fiber, but my mom, myself, and my daughters itch like crazy if we touch it.

I’m a licensed massage therapist… I do aromatherapy often…. I would NEVER need that many oils at once. I only double up on some oils bc 1) I use it at home and work 2) There was a sale at my local store and it’s an oil I use a lot. Or 3). It’s not always easy to find. Which does happen from time to time. I think the most I’ve had at once was 20, and I was like “oh my goodness I can’t believe I have this many”. 😳 that was also when I first started doing massages & I was excited & my older brother bought me a bunch as a gift. Anyway, just had to say that. Bc my goodness 70 bottles?! 200?! That’s insane.

I used to purchase YL oils. I never was in the business to “make money”, but I sure spent it. The program took advantage of the collector in me. I bought so many oils that I don’t even use. That are not even open. I stopped buying them three years ago and still have unopened bottles (I’m about ready to toss them all because I don’t use them anymore because of my cat. I’m afraid they will hurt her). Every purchase I earned points that could use to get “free” merchandise. I would often use it to buy a $75 bottle of frankincense. Rose oil was never eligible to buy with these points. I’m not even sure if you earned points when you purchased rose outright. Needless to say, I never owned rose oil.

That last Young Living hun - she isn't allowed to make any of those health claims. 0%. I know you already know this, but. You can't actually legally say any of that stuff about the oils. She could be reported to her company and to the FTC. With that being said, I assume she believes all of this because it's what she hears from the other YL huns on a daily basis - her uplines, her team, any social media groups she might be in. I would argue that a lot of the members who are higher up the pyramid know better than to blatantly make these claims online to the general public. When I was in YL I was always warned that after so many times getting caught by YL compliance my account would be cancelled - I think they give you 3 or 4 times to correct any "mistakes" you may have made while posting online. However, in private groups and private conversations and in-party events and parties - all bets are off. They will say anything about their products to rope other women in to being oily with them. 🤣

Clip 7 is baffling to me. I'm in the second year of medical school amd I don't have all the knowledge yet to debunk this but I desperately want to oh my god. What I do know is that in case of an allergic reaction, if it is severe the person can die very quickly and they need first an epinephrine (adrenaline) injection and then professional medical help, as soon as possible. DO NOT use oils for allergies, especially if they are severe allergies Edit: of course I am NOT a medical professional at this point so don't just take my word for it but do your research
