I’d say MLMs are actively anti-women. While men and non-binary people also fall victim to them, it’s clear that most of the large and problematic ones target women specifically. Being pro-mom is being anti-women, and it’s sad that many women either don’t realize this or don’t care.

@@pokemonfanthings4444 I didn't realize "pro-mom" was a typo for a minute and I was trying to figure that one out 😂 I totally agree, women are the clear targets and many (not all) men who are in them were roped in by their wives/gfs/mom/sister because they just want to support them. Another difference between corporate jobs and MLM, is that if you get fired, depending on what happened ofc, you'll get a final compensation (e.g., Severance Package). In MLMs you are literally abandoned.
@crystalfarmer40742 жыл бұрын
Yep! Unfortunately Angelique found that out. She spoke out against the negative and mean girl attitudes of her mlm and was fired. Meanwhile you have other reps from the same company like Mandy Sue, and Angela Sumner spreading hate, lies, and being publicly racist and they don't even get a slap on the wrist. Something has to change, somehow these companies need to be held liable for the stuff they allow and seemingly condone. Seeing as how they don't react at all when racism and the like is reported, but when someone shares truths and has receipts to prove it they fire them. Somebody please make it make sense!

Hi Hannah -- I am literally watching this video right now but paused it so I could comment. I am not in the "MLM world." I am interested in anti-MLM content to the extent that I research cults, brainwashing and other types of coercive scenarios that innocent people can unwittingly fall into. Your videos are extremely educational. I see MLM's as "Corporate Cults," and believe that you (and Kiki, and other anti-MLM'ers) are doing very important work. However, I also wanted to thank you for helping folks find a better way to deal with negative comments (a problem that's obviously internet-wide). Often, online nastygrams are the product of narcissistic thinking. The best way to shut down a narcissist -- as you point out -- is with kindness. They are looking for a fight, and by diffusing it, they have no "fuel" to attack with. Anyhow, I just wanted you to know that you're not only helping ex-MLM'ers. You are providing tons of useful advice for those trying to navigate an increasingly hostile online world. Keep up the good work! Peace and love :)

It is not for other people, it’s for themselves - it’s not really possible to be part of an MLM (unless you’re *genuinely* extremely dumb) without a little bit of cognitive dissonance in your mind. Most people are actually aware of it. They have to find coping mechanisms to deal with it. Overreacting to criticism is more about hyping themselves up and convincing themselves to ignore their own doubts.

I was worried to start watching this video. I don’t know you but you come across as such a warm and caring person I thought I‘d get really angry listening to people say mean things about you. I am so glad you have such a healthy outlook on these comments. I watch pretty much all of your content, at least partly some of the longer videos I haven’t finished, so I’d watch these again if you posted more but I would probably stop if I started feeling angry or overly defensive. I also wanted to say that even though I also watch other anti-MLM creators (which I found through your channel, that’s right YOU were my gateway to anti-MLM content!😄) your style is my personal favorite. Oh and last thing for my rambling comment - I notice the cuts but I don’t think it takes away from the video. Like I said you are one of my favorite content creators so obviously your editing style hasn’t had that much, if any, influence on it. I can’t imagine I’m so unique and special that I’m the only one that doesn’t mind your editing style.

I'm so grateful that I found your channel. I have had endless awful experiences with MLM. I used to believe that MLMs offered an amazing side gig and, maybe for some, it does. The reps I've encountered are rude, aggressive, and they lie. Two reps from one company scammed their own down line by charging an additional fee for leads that didn't exist. The company knew they were doing this but didn't care. Another MLM encourages their members to lie about being animal nutritionists and they often spam reply on other people's business pages to try and recruit people. I asked a woman to stop doing this and she went on a racist rant the blocked me. And a large MLM tried to get my FB page taken down because I quit their program. I quit because they didn't want me to write about anything other than their products on my personal blog. And they did this while still trying to take money from me. It took a call to the Attorney General's office to get the company to leave me alone. The final MLM I joined was started by someone I know. I thought it would be different. I realized that it was the same as my past experiences when they started deleting questions. I'm sure there are folks living their best lives being an MLM rep. I feel like your content is great for those of us who were gasliit by reps as we tried to build as side gig and continually failed. I make more money as a pet blogger than I did as an MLM rep. And now that I know more about MLMs and that my experiences aren't unique, I won't make the mistake of joining another MLM.

The algorithm just brought your channel to me and I love it! I have my own story of a MLM couple trying to recruit me in a Michael's store with a sketchy story.(omitting alot because of space) I was starting my own business and she said she could teach me and wanted to do a zoom call. At the the time I didn't know much and was looking to learn, after the sketchy zoom call I immediately went and did research in MLM and found what they were peddling thanks to people like you ❣️ subscribed

You are 100% my favorite anti-MLM content provider. You are so sweet and genuine. It is clear you have true empathy for for everyone. I used to be in mary kay a few years ago (I'll probably send you my story at some point) and your videos have helped me come to terms the guilt I have for being a part of that and even recruiting my sister in the business. One of my favorite things about you however is that you never name call others or belittle people who are in an MLM. You are always level-headed, calm and you make very clear arguments. I love all your videos!! Keep being your amazing sweet self! ❤

How can you criticize a product/business structure if you never tried it You ever tried meth? No Would you say it's bad? Yes How do know if you haven't tried it? That's what they sound like. Some things you don't have to try you just take others experience into consideration like a rational person.

Hannah- this is how I know you'll be a great teacher should you go that route (although, technically, you are already an educator vis-à-vis your content)- you are extremely patient in dealing with some of these inane tropes. I do love you subtly (and not-so-subtly) calling out the misspellings, though. Makes my grammar-loving heart happy!

I loved this format. It's really interesting to see the feedback from the mlm community and how you respond (beautifully by the way). I imagine there's some comfort in holding the certainty and buzzwords so tightly in their clenched fists but your compassion has to help when their upline is telling them to record personal tragedies for recruiting.

I just feel the need to say a quick thank you for making these videos. I honestly didn’t know that anti-MLM videos existed until KZbin recently suggested one to me. I have two sisters in law that have been involved in MLM’s and they have never sat well with me, even to the point that I’ve felt like they should not be legal. I also hate what they do to the people involved in them, like when they “reach out” and act like your friend only to try to sell you stuff and get you to join their team. One of my sisters actually makes pretty good money with color street but with the time she puts into it I hardly feel it’s worth it. I know this is your job and I think it’s fantastic. Educating people is a wonderful thing!

Thank you Hannah deeply from my heart, I learned a lot from you on how Not to engage in anger, but instead, take a deep breath, slow down and engage in facts and compassion and kindness. I hope you read my comment! I stumbled into your channel because I was looking for good informative channels and I must say, your videos are well researched, well thought over and your approach is one of the most compassionate, even to the mean comments you get. I agree with your point with regards to the main difference between working a 9-5 job vs MLM. My take of MLM (I've had a small experience with almost getting recruited by two different MLM businesses here in Singapore) is almost similar to a Ponzi schemes, except their business structure (and actual live products) do work on 'some', not all (like all kinds of products) - and it all boils down to the capital you put in and the amount of effort into selling these products that are honestly, overpriced. And the memberships of getting people to 'sign on' with them is how the top liners gain their commissions. Well - that's my experience and understanding. I know I am wrong somewhere, but what I'm trying to say is that at least the 9-5 jobs and minimum wages actually get you paid. I know some actually believe in their products - hopefully because it actually works for them? Then sure. But making people pay for overpriced sign-ons, honestly most of the time I know it's not worth that price. I'm not saying it's an actual ponzi scheme? But the business structures of these MLM companies just have such similar structures. To haters, this is based on my opinion - and yes I have actually bought the products for the recommended time and I seriously don't think they're worth the price I'm paying for.

I really enjoy the way you do your videos, you deliver with compassion and well researched information. I actually am a “consultant” in a mlm (I dare not say the company to avoid any hate), I joined purely because I love the product. When I signed up I told my up-line that I am not in this to build an empire but to buy products at a reduced rate and sell to family and friends who contact me - not the other way around. Needless to say, I am not welcomed in with open arms by other consultants and the push to recruit is huge but I have been ticking away just selling products and have remained ‘active’ for 4 years. I will never seek out people to join as it just isn’t me. I would encourage anyone in an mlm to thoroughly read their disclosure statements, be informed and don’t get sucked in by the hype.

Hi Hannah…I recently started watching your vids and let me just say how truly impressed I am with your composure, your eloquence and your style of delivering content. I thankfully have never been roped into an MLM…I’ve hosted some parties, but have a very good handle on my unwillingness to “put myself out there” and am really really good at saying “NO”. I am not a risk taker with regard to my work or finances and thus am arriving at age 60 with no debt, no mortgage on either home, an insanely good marriage and a solid, carefree retirement to look forward to. I feel awful for some of the people in your horror stories who have lost so much. Keep doing the good work! -Pam 😊

A lot of those responses are some people in MLM who are being coercively abused by their MLM's structure and people above them, they get deeply offended and feel inadequate when you hold the mirror of truth in front of them, so their response is automatically negative because they don't want to believe that they're actually being mind fucked by their MLM's. Take the negative comments as a badge of honor, that you're actually educating these people, whether they believe it at this moment or not. Keep up the good work Hannah! 😊✌🏼
