As a white girl living/grown up in Georgia, I've had similar experiences to your previous job. Your coworker was definitely racist and your bosses had the same mentality. I've worked with many older white folks that have that mentality, and do the same kind of things, though not as bad as your coworker. It's like a lack of empathy they have to anyone thats different from them, and an unwillingness to learn. Smh, they need to do better but i don't know if people like that ever will. Glad you left and hope you find something even better in your next job ❤

@jassh2610 Жыл бұрын
Unfortunately, I think more passive people (like myself and it seems you too) allow blatant racism to pass out of fear of being a “problematic” black person. It sounds like they were comfortable with being disrespectful around you because had you checked them you wouldn’t have been considered their favorite. I’m glad you know you worth and know when to go. And thank you for the uploads girl WE MISSED YOU!!!!

Them people was racist. I would have been so uncomfortable. They also sound like my last job. I worked with a older white lady that would not leave me alone. Soon as I’d come in the office she’d be at my desk just talking away. Once she found out I wasn’t interested she started drama. I ended up quitting on the spot but not before calling her the b-word 😂 I just had to say it. So I totally understand. I’m so tired of coworkers🥴

Just so we all know, Pakistan is in Asia lol. I’m 19 min in, and my jaw is all the way on the floor. To be honest, racism is an action. If they’re saying things like that, it’s an action. They’re racist behind the scenes. If they were comfortable enough to do that with you around, I can only imagine the vibe they would bring off if that person came into the office. That is the exact reason I use Facebook Marketplace. It’s never let me down 🤞🏾. The question is her being a manager, that should’ve been her job to ask you. Hey Hannah! Thank you for sharing you experiences. I too worked at a small office like this in Chicago 2018. I was beyond stressed all the time. All of thee employees were white, and the microagressions was super strong. The owner would also have me lie to customers and do his dirty work. I felt like a token who was hired to be a tap dancing cooning aunt Jemima. When I didn’t comply, I eventually got terminated. It was a blessing because I did not want to lie, and God delivered me from that situation and put me into a better one. Mocking a person’s ethnicity/culture is racism and prejudiced. Google an image search for “Pyramid of White Supremacy “. When a person is in the privileged skin tone category that is known for oppression, they cannot make jokes or mock other races. If they are doing that to people of other ethnicities and nationalities, they are mocking black people too. They just didn’t do it around you. How many times every year around holloween do white people get called to the carpet for painting black face and then play selectively ignorant? Still til this day. Making fun of someone’s accent or mocking someone who is different from me would make me feel uncomfortable and low vibrational. Someone can still be a provider and abuser at the same time. Our ancestors have been employed in low paying jobs by white people and also treated like dirt at the same time while also fighting for basic civil rights. My grandma used to clean for a white lady in the 30s. This same lady gave my grandma a black face wall hanging. Why would she give my grandma that, of all things? I still have it til this day. It hangs in my kitchen as a reminder that no matter how good, kind, loyal, professional you are, some white people will still try to belittle you. Microagression. But God has prepared a table before me in the presence of my enemies and my cup STILL runs over. Love you sis, and God is going to continue to direct your steps, protect and continue to bless you greatly! You are onward and upward to bigger and better.

🗣️Girl! I have NEVER related to a video sooo much. When I say I LITERALLY went thru the exact same things you said. From the coworkers being messy, underpaid, overworked, side lil racist comments, hidden jealousy and dealing with drivers disrespect (in my case salesman), and the whole cash advance thing too! Whew! & I stayed for 7 years & wasn’t getting paid $20/hr, because of the few good ppl there and other reasons. But omg! It was refreshing to hear you break this down. It made me realize that I wasn’t the only one in a similar situation back then. So, I’m really glad that we both have moved on towards finding better positions with valuable pay & appreciation at new jobs! Good luck on all you do, boo! You got this! 💕😊😊. Sis that job was beyond racist! Not the boss mocking and trying to imitate an Asian persons language is highly inappropriate. What I have noticed working in Corporate is that a lot times when they do "nice" things for you a majority of the time it is a set up just so they can have some to hold over your head in case you voice your dislike of something even though they helped with the down payments you still paid it back so you didn't owe them anything because the fact that the pay did not reflect the amount of work your putting in speaks volumes of what they really felt about you and who goes on vacations knowing you don't have enough employees to manage the office is wild to me!
