I put your videos on the TV for my mum, who is suffering from dementia. She really loves watching them as you visit all her favorite places in London. Your videos cheer her up and she'll stop whatever she's doing and always focus on your videos which is otherwise very hard for her to do. Thank you so much!

The eggs aren't in the fridge because they haven't been washed and still have the natural protective barrier that is present when laid. In the US, the eggs are washed, and once washed, they must be refrigerated.

Also - You don't put eggs in a fridge.
@blackadder1966

@topjack800 The best place to store eggs is the fridge, as it maintains a constant temp. Temperature fluctuations increase the risk of salmonella, etc, significantly. The Climate in which you live and the seasons are relevant too. Typically in England we kept eggs in the fridge, definitely in the fridge here in Australia.

@@blackadder1966 nope in all of europe eggs wont be in a fridge, they dont need to be theyre fine due to the cuticle on the egg. In the american and apprently australian process they wash them in chemicals that destroy the cuticle meaning that bacteria can get through the egg via condensation which is why temperature has to be maintained in a fridge. Also salmonella isnt a problem in the uk and europe because we vaccinate our chickens against it. Ive never had food poisioning in my life.

As an American, I thought the prices were very reasonable for most of the food shops you went in. And a much greater variety in a short walking distance. I would love to shop at a Waitrose. The only thing that looked better missing is the huge variety of produce we have (I live in California so am very spoiled).

I live in the US and I find that prices can be all over the place. One store I like which tends to be on the pricey side has great sales and with the loyalty card you can get even better sales. Now Walmart is supposed to be on the lower end which I find is not true. Some are cheaper the rest the same proce as other stores or even higher, plus I find their fresh produce and meat horrible. It all comes down to knowing what you want and where you can get the best deal

1 stick of Kerrygold butter is $4.27 at my local grocery store. A heat & eat meal starts at $7.99 depending on what's in it. That luxury store is what normal grocery stores(and Walmart) charge in the United States. I live in the South so farmer's markets are popular this time of year. Food here has gotten so expensive.

Salaries are significantly less in the UK as well. In general salaries are 55% less than in the US. Many single people live in co-housing in London ( sharing a flat), so this makes London more affordable, something most people post-college are less likely to do.

I also like to do grocery deliveries and shops at Waitrose. I plan my meals and prepare them to eat. So, that I always have something on the go. I also freeze meals. A few things: • Buying whole fresh fruits and vegetables helps to be cost effective. • The meat deal of 3 for £12 comes very much in handy! • Buy a whole chicken and roast it! You can have so many different meals with different parts of the chicken. 😋 • Their tinned olives are great as a snack, in salads or on pizza. • Their fine pasta and pizza flour is the best flour I’ve ever used in my life. • If I ever buy pre-cut or pre-cooked foods, I find they last a long time and are in good condition when used! • As Hannah said, their Essential Waitrose range is very good! I don’t fault the quality of any of it. • They’re the only supermarket chain that offers pre-cut Soffrito!! It helps because of my fibromyalgia. I love to add it to sauces, soups stews! • They’re the only ones who offer frozen chopped shallots!! I find Hannah’s shop was quite expensive due to all the pre-made and pre-cut foods. However, I fussed it was expensive when seeing her shop. Given that she bought loads of drinks, sushi and the karaage bowel, it was pretty decent! I say it loudly: Waitrose is actually quite reasonably priced when shopping smart and has very good quality.

Bill Granger was a very well-known Australian chef (I immediately thought Australian run when you mentioned avocado toast 😆). The key with a high priced grocery store is that the produce is always really good quality, which is one of the most important parts of my weekly grocery list. Its the specialty items that get you, although there are some reasonably priced items if you look. Non-alcoholic beer actually has a good amount of nutrition and is a decent running recovery drink for electrolytes.

I’m with you, love Waitrose. Good quality, and if you buy the low cost basics and limit the fancy treats, I find the price pretty comparable. Thanks for showing us all the other lovely little shops too!😊

Oh my gosh Hannah, thank you for taking me to Laduree...right down my street! The Organics...love it! My gosh, I agree that all the streets should be like the ones you're taking us down now....what a lovely experience that would be! I laughed when you said "oh, stone in, can't be bothered with that"...oh, I agree!

Hi Hannah, the old sub here. Love seeing London Waitrose prices. I shall go shopping tomorrow morning and once a fortnight I go to Waitrose for my treats and Aldi for my main shop. Hannah their salmon mousse wrapped in smoked salmon is so lush. Also we have had a fantastic apple in Waitrose called Red Pop and they are incredible, a speciality apple. I'm afraid I only buy a pastry when they're reduced, pension and all that. Also I will often buy their soft fruits when they're reduced as the last so long. I first shopped in Waitrose when I got married, as in those days, the prices were comparable to Sainsbury. I used to go to Hayes branch. I carried on going when I moved to Northamptonshire, now I don't work I can't afford to do my whole shop there. Great job Hannah, thank you ❤

Nice tour ❤ I imagine the regular customers get their groceries delivered and never set foot inside.

I shop online (most on scheduled subscription - food & nonfood) and have my groceries delivered. Helped me stick to my list and budget, and during post-op time when I couldn’t lift heavy loads.

Thanks Hannah. Always great to walk and shop with you. It is like shopping with a friend. I did enjoy your walk around kew gardens. How can you tell if it is really organic especially when you are looking at fruit and vegetables. You did get quite a lot for that price. Have an awesome evening. Really enjoyed the video.

Waitrose no1 brand is the best. They brought out a new cornish sea salted caramel brittle ice cream not too long ago and it is soooo indulgent 🤤

When we traveled to London multiple times, we’d find local shops like the Italian store or Waitrose and buy several items to take back to our hotel for dinner. It was far cheaper than eating in restaurants, as well as more relaxing and healthy. I’d rather spend more of our travel budget on a decent hotel versus restaurants, so I really love your food shopping videos. The little markets with fresh fruit displayed outside are so lovely and we don’t really have those in the US. Yes, try the Kerry Gold salted butter - delicious!

I really, really envy you the low prices on this quality food and that’s comparing to Swedish food prices 😢 Food prices has skyrocketed and to compensate I no longer buy all organic and started eating more unhealthy…..very sad, love to do som UK shopping 🎉❤

Hannah, I know you’ve taken us to Costco, on another of your food outings, and you have Aldi which is also big here in the states, do you have Walmart as well??? That is how a great many of us are surviving these out of control prices. I can’t imagine how people with large families are surviving these last 3-4 years. It’s truly a horror. Thanks for a wonderful video. Thoroughly enjoyable. 🌸🍃🌸
