Thank you for normalizing real lived in spaces. Those with small children understand. The house doesn’t need to be perfect, just functional.

My step-grandma and grandpa lived in a 500 sq ft home with 7 kids. The kids played outside in the yard or over at their friends' houses so a large house wasn't necessary. I grew up in a 900 sq ft home and we didn't use our bedrooms half the time. We were normally all in the living room (with one of those wrap around sectionals, it worked) or outside playing.

I love that. It’s so true, back in the day homes were a lot smaller and people just did things together- :) we’re bringing that back

I grew up in a tiny apartment and hated it, I used to dream about having my own personal bedroom, even the tiniest one. I think American homes are way too big, as an Italian I find huge bedrooms and bathrooms are wasted space, and no one needs 2000+ sqf, but having a bit more space so that each kid can enjoy some occasional privacy and quiet time is necessary

Thank you!! We have a wonderful 760 sq ft home in a great neighborhood by a school. However we want 4 kids (currently have 3) we somehow have three bedrooms in our house. People talk all the time to us about getting a bigger house, but coming from someone who has travelled the world and SEEN typical European and Asian house sizes, I’m just not sold on that American need. This helps me solidify it 😍

I raise our family of 5 in 900 square foot home as the children got bigger we did have a basement to turn into bedroom and family room, I was to have a big kitchen with very large eat in kitchen with a large table and hutch. I live their for 38 years and when hubby wanted to retired and move up in northern Michigan to had over 2 acre of land and house that was 1300 square with no stairs plus 3 outdoor buildings lol Now hubby is 80 and I am 78 we had to move the pace was too much work for us and my hubby has many health issues. So were back down state and rent apartment that has attach garage no step 1200 square been here 2 years, yes it sad we sold our home but were content no outside work and the winters can be hard so nice to drive in and out of the garage when unload food after shopping. Its now our life were back at the church we left many years ago and many of us are still alive and we keep busy and it's nice to have our grown children around us. Live gives us many different times to live different too. I always cook from heart and still do just don't can any more, but making bread I do do. I love my crock pot too.

I absolutely love your home! You can just feel the love, and as the song says, "Love grows best in little houses." It's so true. Family togetherness is so much easier to attain when there isn't a lot of excess space. I love your Christian decor/signage! I also think the hanging bunk is so neat! It’s funny my Mom grew up in North Carolina in a three bedroom home smaller than yours and they had 16 people living there! Haha. Lots of land. But they were happy and grew all their own food for the most part. People didn’t have big homes back then , even if they had the land to build them. It is a more recent thing …bigger homes. This is so good! Thankyou for sharing your 'real' home too it's really helpful and normalising! We've lived in our self built tiny home (22ft / 7m long) and oour 3 year old has only known this one. Your kids room looks spacious haha! We're trying for baby #2 and have recently put on a deck extention (insulated) which has given us so much additional space, it feels like a totally new house. We're also going to be homeschooling so I love how you've kept things here pretty minimal, it's supportive to see that it can look like that too without an entire 'school' room

Thanks for sharing, it looks very nice and cozy. I don't see a problem if you have much outdoor space. We used to have 807sft / 2 bedrooms until our 5th child was over 1.5 yrs. But it was a city apartment 3rd floor, no balcony no garden and hubby working at home...that was not ideal though we loved our home. Now with 6 kids 1227sft, 4 bedrooms, 624sft terrace, still in the city. You can make everything work, but im still dreaming of a place where kids have lots of space to freely play outside. Our big plus is all kinds of schools, doctors, shopping, big library etc within 15min or less walking distance. (We're in Germany and homeschooling is prohibited here.)
@TheSanderbrinkFam8 ай бұрын

I think this house is lovely and looks very comfortable. The kids interviewed don't look or sound "sad", nor does "Mom". The house isn't crowded with "stuff" and looks larger than it is because of the floor plan and furnishings. While it isn't "sad" to live in a small house to this family, it is "sad" to you, for some reason. And, you might feel "sad" if you lived in a small house; this family is not. In terms of history, it's a relatively new idea that people "should" have large houses and every child must have their own room or they're deprived of something. For centuries families lived in small spaces. They shared rooms and usually beds. They used an outhouse or, an indoor bathroom. They lived and worked and had children who lived in similar ways. We all have our own opinions of what is important to us, what brings value to our lives, and we all have "must have" and "don't need". Living in a small house is not for everyone, nor is living in a large house. We each get to make our own decisions of where to live and what type of housing we want ... small or large house, condo, apartment, or RV, as it should be, without criticism.

750 sq ft. is not a tiny home. When are people going to realize that. Just stop. I grew up in a 750 sq ft home and it's not a tiny either. 400 sq ft. And smaller is a tiny. Stop it.
@Jesusmysweetheart7 ай бұрын
Because of the modern American mindset that more and bigger is better, you now have a new generation of people that see small homes as tiny homes and consider a home about 1500sq ft plus to be a average size home. I’ve seen people with homes a little over 1000sq ft call it tiny. My brother who lives in a 2000+sq ft home thinks my home is tiny in comparison. I live in a modest 840sq ft home. Of course 700 or 800 sq ft is not tiny. It’s just that today’s society and the mindset of today’s people have changed drastically in comparison to 20 plus years ago.
