You know what's funny. I was playing PES (football game) and this one song stood out. Armatopia. I checked it out. Made by a guy named... Johnny Marr. Started looking at his work. Damn... Even Funnier: I checked this Live performance twice before that and only now I know who the guitar player is. All started because of a background song. Edit:spelling

This man is a true artist, it truly amazes me how his compositions of meticulously timed string vibrations from violins / pianos / guitars and cellos, create waves that blast my heart wide open to passion, kindness, humility, to life. Goosebumps, tremors, blurry vision, sweat and tears, as if seeing a loved one after years, his music speaks to my soul and I am thankful for being alive today once again since he has done this so many times. I can only hope to find and fulfil my purpose as a human, the way he has done in my eyes as a musician. Thank you for being, Hans Zimmer.

@irena77777778 жыл бұрын
+jetstreamsurfer1 You think Johnny Marr is good, then you need to check out one of the other guitarists touring with Hans Zimmer. Guthrie Govan is about a million times better than Marr
@goodtogomofo8 жыл бұрын
In what capacity is Govan a million times better than Marr? I'd love to know. I mean, there is a reason The Smiths are considered one the great bands by critics (in the UK), what impact has Govan had on the world of Music? He's a very accomplished musician, but they are ten a penny compared to great composers.
@irena77777778 жыл бұрын
Nay Sayer Who cares who considers the Smiths one of the greatest bands in UK history? Pop rock is fucking dire. The Smiths are mostly known for being depressing bastards and Johnny Marr is a strummer of the lowest calibre. Guthrie Govan is the master of all musical styles. Could Marrs play fretless? Can he play arpeggios and legato? Can he finger tap and play hammer ons and pull offs? Can he fuck. Could he play any song off Govan's Erotic Cakes album? No way! You lose
@goodtogomofo8 жыл бұрын
Lose? You think this argument will be concluded here on KZbin between you and I? Really? For the record, professional musicians and critics around the world are the people that hold Johnny Marr in such high regard. I know Guthrie Govan can probably play the guitar behind his head really fast, but critics usually look for substance, which probably explains why very few people have heard of Govan.

Hans Zimmer will go down as one of the greatest composers of this time and be listened too in 200 years like Mozart.
@HalfEpicTV10 жыл бұрын
Eh, maybe. He has some really great stuff and he's really good with finding unique sounds to fit characters (i.e. the joker), but he's definitely not the best composer. In my opinion, composers like Aaron Copland and John Williams will be listened to for generations because of the nationalist style that is derived from their classical roots.
@kridkelso24510 жыл бұрын
Agree. Hans is all about bringing the drama which he does very well. You don't leave a HZ movie whistling the melody like a John Williams score...
@JanKrnac10 жыл бұрын
Krid Kelso Well... greatness in my opinion is not about making people go from cinema whistling the melody (which Williams does for sure). It's about emotions. And Zimmer is unbeatable here.
@kridkelso24510 жыл бұрын
Oh I absolutely agree with that! He definitely knows how to bring out the drama so yes, he is great in that respect.
@darkcognitive9 жыл бұрын
Krid Kelso I dont know. His music echo's in my mind for a long time after hearing it. It's not a whistling tune, it's a narrative, applicable at some points in life where it seems to extend its warm hand and grab you when you're out there, in the cold. And out there, in the cold - I am. However this bottle of Rare Chivas Regal Whisky surely has a say in matters such as these.

He actually didn't write a lot of those haha. Hans Zimmer's name is on a lot of things, he has many minions and ghostwriters. Gladiator for example, Hans had no part of. it was all Klaus Badelt
@MarkHimley10 жыл бұрын
***** Why do you think that? I actually know this for a fact.. This is what I'm going to school for, and I have professors who know these people, and have worked in LA in the Hollywood movie scene. This is a widely known fact, this sort of approach goes back hundreds of years. Gladiator, as well as Pirates of the Caribbean, well the first one anyways, was all Klaus Badelt. Hans Zimmer is notorious for having ghost writers, even on a lot of movies if you actually look at the credits, he won't be listed as the composer, but it will say "over produced" by Hans Zimmer, or something similar to that. Look up composers like Steven Price, or Ramin Djawadi. They were Zimmer's minions at one point, and grew out and went on to do their own thing, (Gravity, Prison Break, Iron Man, etc.) Hans has a factory of sorts in LA and you pay to rent out space, and pray to God he likes your music and gives you a shot, then you write music for a big movie under his name, and he gets all the credit. If you do good enough for awhile, then he will let you take on a full project under your own name. Hans is more of a business man than a composer. I'm not saying Hans doesn't compose, he does his own work as well, (Inception, the Christopher Nolan batman trilogy, Sherlock Holmes, etc.) but many of the movies his name is on were written by his minions. Again, this isn't my opinion..this is a widely known and accepted fact about Hans Zimmer in the Hollywood scene
@HoodlumMedia9 жыл бұрын
***** Then if anything this makes him an even better person? IMO - what this is, is bringing truely talented musicians/composers and giving them opportunities - those who have TRUE talent deserve it, because they grind their arses off like hell to get that good, and they can then share their own beautiful creations with the world (Steven price - fury, for example). I see your point though in that he may not write the soundtracks for certain films, but tbh i don't blame him for it. he still applies his magic touch haha, the writing part must be incredibly difficult and two/three minds are better than one.
