5 grand? A lathe can be had for a few hundred, a press (either hydraulic or flypress) can be had for a a couple hundred. Forge will cost you a hundred. Welder can be had for 50ish. Buy used, save money. Not expensive at all.

@@autumn5592 cuz wooden handles absorbs more shock

@@j_is_a_letter The head is forged, the handle is rolled steel. Regardless of the handle being wood or steel, the head will still experience the same shock. How exactly will it having a wooden hammer stop it being 'destroyed'? (Not that it would ever see enough force to do that.)

i got my set up (real forging not machining) for total of 400dollars (4000 swedish kronor) i use a hand cranked forge charcoal powered an anvil i bought of a family that had their old great grand father passing so they were wanting to sell the anvil and tools to someone who would appreciate it then i started hammering basicly spent total with fuel costs and such over 1 year like 450dollars (including the original 400dollars)
@autumn5592 Жыл бұрын
Not really. Black bear forge recently did a video where you can spend 500 dollars to get enough tooling to properly forge things. Being thrifty on ebay you could get it way cheaper. Welders, entry level, aren't that expensive. Usually you can pick bench top lathes up for a couple hundred. Milling machines will set you back 600 to several thousand, depending on the style. Angle grinders aren't expensive. Like 15 bucks Bench grinders can be a little pricey, but still cheap. Belt sanders/griders are a couple hundred. It's not expensive so long as you have a little to start with. I started with a random block of metal I dug up, a ball pein hammer that was my grandfathers, some pliers, a mapp gas torch, and some old mower blades and digging forks. It cost me about 50 quid. From there you make things, sell, make more, slowly accumulate money to buy the next tool. It means spending time working though.

@autumn5592 Жыл бұрын
You do not use ball peins to drive nails. You use them to do things like set rivets, uniformly stretch metal, texture metal, or persuade things to move.
