What is there not to love about this watch? It's looks are spectacular, the bronze case is gorgeous. The full dial with 12 arabics and the simply elegant date pointer hand. With a superior movement and very comfortable dimensions, it is one of the few watches you have reviewed that actually made me feel I could see myself spending a couple grand on a watch (besides the Omega Speedmaster). The strap looks as though it might be rubbing the case due to the quick release pin and you are right saying that mineral is unforgivable at this price. Overall it is just a beauty I'm sure that if I own one someday, it would rarely leave my wrist.

I am happy to know that you live in a country where you can find and buy the watch you want. I have called a Oris dealer in Brazil about this same model and received the answer "we don not have this model". And that was all. Nothing else. There was nothing like "if you are interested in this model, we can order one with Oris". The worst sales staff in the world !

I love your revues and the split screen is a great addition! You are my favorite watch critic. I watch them from a number of sources, but I always look for yours first. Most important is that you have a lot of less expensive watches for us poor folks who can’t afford to go out and buy a $2000.00 watch. This one was up there for you, so please don’t forget the little people. I would like to see the lengths of the bands added to your revues. I’m a large man with a large wrist-so I usually have to add a new strap to the price tag of a new watch, not to mention the hassle of replacing the strap. If you have any hacks to make that job a little easier, I would love to see them!

Great review. Sometime in the next 6-12 months I am thinking of selling Hamilton Khaki king for a field/pilot watch that is a little higher end. I have gone into the Oris dealer and tried on the 40 and found it just a little too big (part of the reason I want to move on from my hammy). I haven’t tried on the 36 yet as my dealer doesn’t have one at the moment, but I have a feeling if Oris made a 38 that would be more at my sweet spot. Still considering it, especially the new red dial version!
@jiri67645 жыл бұрын
Got Oris Big Crown 36mm in stainless steel and the Le Corbusier light green dial. Couldn't be happier with the traditional size, execution and performance. A couple of points: the date hand is great in that at glance it give one idea of where in a month one is - e.g. half way through. This would be helped if 31 was above 12, like in the old version. For some reason - likely blatant carelessness of Oris product designers or managers - they put 1 up the top, which makes no sense and somehow skews this ability to check how far in a month we are. Second thing - the date numbers are hard to read, sometimes impossible to read, e.g. if there's light coming from one side. The curvature of the domed crystal makes this problem worse. I'd like to see simple domed crystal on this one, without the extra round edges. Overall, extremely happy with this watch.

If it's really good for 50 meters, that's good enough for any activity on the water short of actual scuba diving. Given the price of the watch, I'd pop a few bucks more for a tester just to be safe. Great video and review as always! Love the art deco 4 on the dial and that green with the bronze... However, I have three gripes about this one... 1. I don't need to be told on the dial that the watch is a "Big Crown". I can see that it is by the big crown. 2. I agree with what you said about the mineral glass on the case back, especially how cheap sapphire had become. 3. I would have liked to have seen a 38mm option... And, yes I understand it's supposed to be a "pilots watch" and pilots watches are supposed to be big... But with that, then why is the SNK809 37-38mm?

I think the plural of Oris is Ori, no?
@earthenjadis81995 жыл бұрын
I want to get into Oris but I just can't find anything to open the gates. I like the Oris 65 but it doesn't give me that spark. I would have gotten an Aquis if not for their custom lugs and the fact I already have a watch that is very similar. I'm not after one of their cheaper field watches so that left EXACTLY these bronze Big Crown Pointers but AGAIN I have to say Oris misses the mark with me - coin edge bezel and deep copper colour is nice, but it's much more expensive than the regular Big Crown version of this watch. Green dial is also very situational - my general thought is the less conservative the colour, the bigger risk of flipping the watch later on. I like the green dial, but I don't like it everyday (if you get what I mean). Oris - a company I want to get into, Swiss-made and directly in my budget range, whose story I "want to be a part of" (so to speak) but they just offer nothing that gives me the tingles. It's frustrating.
