Bought this bad boy on steel with the red dial. Absolutely love it, the red is so dark and lush. Dark enough not to worry about matching it with your clothing colours but when that dial catches the sun it glows! Been super accurate for its first month on wrist too!

I have a 6.5 inch wrist and really thought I'd prefer the 38mm Cervo Volante, especially since the dial is large with a small bezel. Turns out the 40mm doesn't look too big at all in my wrist. In fact, I think the 38mm looks small. There's some strange optical illusions going on with this watch and the crystal distortion.

Just got my Oris Big Pointer Date with the blue dial (40mm). I just love it. Excellent value for money. Just a joy to wear.
@seayak6 ай бұрын
Yes it is a beautiful watch. But as a value-for-money proposition - you are paying a lot for the pointer date feature, at the expense of others, like a bit more water resistance, or an exhibition caseback in sapphire crystal as opposed to mineral glass. There is really no decoration on the movement either, aside from the red paint on the rotor, which has to be pretty cheap to apply, as compared to any other finishing.

Just happened to be wearing mine as this video popped up. This turned out be be a good luck piece for me....was at the AD for Tudor looking for a Black Bay 58 when I spotted this Oris in the case. Loved it, and went ahead and snagged it since no BB58 had yet to darken their door....made a friend of the salesman, who the very next day called to let me know that their very first Black Bay 58 had come in that morning! Ran back out and grabbed that one as well! Turned out to be a two-fer! Great review, Teddy, as always!

I fell in love with this watch about a year ago and am aiming to pick one up next year sometime. Great review with some awesome macro shots! It was interesting to hear your thoughts on the rotor as most people hail the red rotor as something really special. I am inclined to agree with you that it's not really in keeping with the watch's style, and your thoughts on the water resistance too. On the other hand no watch can ever attain perfection - the moment we expect it we set ourselves up for disappointment. I'd love to see a review of one of the 36mm versions, I think they are stunning. Part of convincing my better half to let me get one of these will probably be getting her one of the smaller ones - so if you can, bring a lady along and show how it looks on her wrist! Thanks a lot and keep up the great work.

@matthewdavis81995 жыл бұрын
Christopher Ward is far more honest in that they don't pretend their movements are something that they are not. CW tells you upfront that a particular watch, for example, has a Sellita SW200-2. I really like Oris, but the pretend Oris caliber XXX is unfortunate. Unfortunate for many other brands as well. BTW, I agree with Teddy that a solid caseback and 100m water resistance would be a terrific improvement.

Teddy. Love your content as always. Just remembered we have the same wrist size of 6.25 inches. Can you please do the Orient Bambino FAC00008W0? I really love its classic look but I think at 40mm it’s too big. But the Oris in this video is also 40mm and has classic look too and it looks good on your 6.25 inch wrist. I’d love it if you could do a video on the said Orient Bambino model. To see if it would also look good on your wrist despite the large 40mm size. I know 40mm is like the standard of the modern era but I prefer the smaller standards of the vintages and classics. They look classier and less like a bulky big boys’ toy. Thanks!

For less than the price of this watch, Christopher Ward and Steinhart both offer very well-built watches with Sellita SW200 movements, plus a sapphire crystal (not mineral glass) exhibition caseback, and at least 100 meters of water resistance. I love the case design and the date pointer feature on the Big Crown series, but am not seeing the value-for-money proposition here. My CW Aquitane GMT kills this one at this price point.
