I hate when they change a twist because "it's too obvious." if it's too obvious that also means IT ACTUALLY MAKES A LOT OF SENSE. The solution should be to take out a hint or two.

while you raise a good point if you think about it there's plenty of movies that you can pretty much figure out who is the killer really early on in the film & to take a guess that's what they were thinking while filming this, honestly while yes it's a lot longer than i thought it was going to be when i first saw it. i love the film it's far better than another (1981) film Final Exam. that one he should do at some point it would be better than the actual film.

@@rolandofgilead43 Most of the time, if you can guess the killer right off, it's just because you've seen so many movies you know the patterns. Which I get can make you think the writers are being unoriginal, but honestly, most people don't watch that movies and pay that much attention. It's still better to have a comprehensible plot than crazy, random bullshit.

@@BWMagus it's a hit and miss really sometimes the call to change things weather an actor wanted or producer or director etc.. it can help a film and I dunno if they shot an alternate ending or not. Other times it's a failure or there are times such as the first elm street film which is an utter masterpiece up until the ending it's not terrible but it could have been better. Or the Friday the 13th part 8 film and it's ending which is more a what the fuck Hollywood, than that ending was awesome.

They didn't change the twist, they added one. This was originally straight forward. This ending would be like if it turned out Sue Snell was the psychic girl in Carrie.

Now if it was done today than sure I probably wouldn't like it well depending on who wrote it or if it was written well. And as for the use snell comment if they would have done that for carrie 2 again depending on how it was done or written that would have made a better film I think.

Honestly, although the movie does meander a bit, and the forced twist is a "what-the-hell-was-that?" moment, I love it for being a blend of drama, whodunit, and atmospheric horror. Melissa Sue Anderson and Glenn Ford give great performances, and the kills are, if not bizarre, interesting and unique.
