@@itiswhatitaintanditaintwha1427 For sure and all is cool (no pun intended), things have progressed (in some ways) and gay is just another option or genetics or environmental. I think the middle one myself and can't believe it would be anyone's choice, because I would've gone for the easier life (and being a dad) but life's been great, much because I don't have kids (I would be terrified for them now). It's just a shame that there weren't gay characters back then. My first encounter with homosexuality in film was "Pillow Talk" when Rock Hudson pretends to be gay (alluded to, of course, but I picked up on it at 12) to trick Doris Day into chasing him. The thing that disappointed me was not that he was using "being gay" to trick her (and wasn't THAT ironic, with Rock pretending he was straight to trick US!), I actually know a few guys who have tried that (until I stepped in to let them prove it!), it was how HORRIFIED Doris was and there was also a scene with Rock's doctor who also assumed he was gay and HE was also very upset and recommended PSYCHIATRIC COUNSELING! No one I knew ever talked of such things, no one in general did, but NOW I knew I was not alone... and how awful I was. I cried myself to sleep that night.

When I was 14, I went to go see a taping of the show. Henry Winkler had a line in a skating rink. His line was supposed to be “if God had wanted us to skate we would’ve been born with little wheels on our feet“ but he kept saying and I think it was three or four times“if God had wanted us to skate, we would’ve been born with little wheels on our heels“. It was exactly like this video. Everybody thought it was hilarious including him. A great memory. Coincidentally, at the time, I lived in Tarzana - one fire road away from Pat Morita‘s driveway.

Well said. I'm in Australia, so I can see what you are talking about, but in the USA they are in an angry political state of mind at the moment. @BabyFaceBren4 жыл бұрын
It's a shame people can't separate the performer from their politics. To think WD would LOVE Baio still, if ONLY he weren't a conservative! I prefer not to know a performer's politics, but they can't resist sharing their views, thinking our admiration for their skill interpreting someone else's words will have us salivating for the (often incredibly blinkered) opinions of their everyday (often uneducated, or Leftist-educated, even worse) brains. Though, because they ARE actors, their views are usually from the left. Ron Howard has his soapbox, but that doesn't mean I don't respect him for his great body of work. Replacing Baio in the recent "Happy Days" table read (assuming he'd even WANT to be involved) was a low, unprofessional act that speaks volumes. John Stamos should've declined the offer to replace him. So much for respect for a fellow actor.
