Retsupurae aren't trying to 'critique,' 'improve,' or 'fix' anything or anybody - they've mentioned that's impossible with something as broad as KZbin. They're just a handful of people having some fun. In their podcasts and Q&As they mention regretting some of the (much harsher) early videos they've done, and aren't actively trying to dissuade people from making content. They've also mentioned that if any of their 'subjects' are actually offended, they'll remove the video on request.

It's been a while, but I recall someone (I really say it was a kid between 10-15) making a video, trying to MST3K retsupurae. If I remember right, Retsupurae was doing the video with the Mario in one of the unerwater dungeon levels and the LP'ers voice sounded like Conker the Squirrel. It's been a few years, but it's there (unless it's been removed since then).

I actually sometimes want to check out the channels of the people who made these. Not hate on them, not tell them how terrible of an LPer they are, just silently view their videos. You are correct. The viewers out there who DO want to just insult them are the reason people who just want to see more content cannot just see more content.

I think what actually happens is that it starts off based on keywords and then as people visit the video it changes to the viewer history of people watching the video, possibly combined with your own history. Mine is now 18 retsupurae videos, one Maddox video and an Erik Satie piece.
