My impression: the smaller the breed, the dumber they get. I have what is called a Netherland dwarf rabbit, it's the cutest little thing. She's eight years old now and I know she likes me, but is frightened of me at the same time (because unfortunately you just have to pick it up from time to time to see if it's clean and to cut its nails). If you want a fun, cuddly rabbit, get a full sized one, not those small cuties.

You can tell a couple things just from listening to the rabbit: 1) She is VERY happy and VERY content. She loves her surroundings, and is VERY fond of her owner. 2) She is WELL fed and taken cared of. This also appears in the shiny, glossy coat she displays. Overall, this is a very happy bun-bun, and she loves you very much.

My bunny passed 3 months ago (he was 9). He did a similar noise and I thought there was something wrong with his nose or his breathing. Now I know it just meant he was happy to see me. Thank you so much. I've been watching videos of rabbit owners and learning that different things he did were actually signs that he was happy. Zachary Hoffa Only one of my 6 rabbits that I've had over my life made that noise but it ended up being a sinus infection. She happy hopped like a nut though. Even accidentally smashed heads with her sister when they thought one would go high and the other low like they had been but the last time they both went high. The rabbit we had when I was a kid made a quieter version of this noise. She was also black and white, but about the size of a large house cat (always two hands when carrying). Henry Herbert I do but only at night because she chews everything she’s not meant to. Also uses stairs and can hop onto the bed so it’s hard to keep an eye on her XD she’s out minimum 6 hours a day free roam and in the morning/before bed she’s confined to our big bedroom for 1.5hours minimum. Sometimes you just get evil pets I guess!! My late pony was evil and attacked me every day basically but she had moments of non murder too! That’s why I’ve said my demon rabbit is my pony incarnate

I had a rabbit this tame once, his name was Beauregard, he used to chase my german shepherds, and harass the cats. He passed away 2 years ago after escaping his new outdoor play area (which i was 100% sure i had rabbit proofed, but i had not counted on his intelligence in figuring out how to disengage the sliding bolt latch) My new rabbits, which i rescued two months ago (9 of them, 3 males, 6 females) are all quite friendly, but today one of the males bit me when i tried to check one of the females for pregnancy!

Reminds me of my late rabbit, she was surprisingly intelligent for a rabbit and very social. She would often when she was indoors explore and then when she was done scouting and was tired she would go up to us and demand pets. She knew I’m very ticklish so she would almost always jump beside me and burrow into my sides and get a reaction out of me, then she would just sit and ask for pets. :)

I never knew what these sounds were! My rabbit passed away a few months ago, he was special needs and wheelchair bound so I was taking care of him round the clock, we were always together. When he made these noises I thought he was having nasal problems, I even sent a video of it to my vet friend like what’s wrong??? It really cheers me up knowing he was making happy honks :’)

I have a dwarf so when he makes this sound it's a bit higher and it sounds like quacking he does it when he's happy usually when he's ripping something up of running around and being silly

Our late albino rabbit Alecz used to do this when we get back home after being at work or school all morning. 😭 He'd make this excited honking/breathing noise while circling around our legs, doing figure eights around each leg as we try to slowly take a step into our house.. I miss him everyday, almost one year since he left us now this 29th October 2020.. He was like sunshine to us. 💛🐇

I lost my bunbun to an unknown illness that cause paralysis, blindness, and seizures. She still lived a good life though, and both when she was an active bunny, and when I was nursing her back to health, and using a scarf to hold her up as she tried to walk again, she would make that happy little noise whenever I was around. It didn't matter if she had just had a seizure, or if she was having to take a bath after soiling herself, she was still a happy little bunny. Hold your bunny tight, and cherish those sweet little noises, because someday you won't have a spoiled little fuzzy snot to hold anymore.
