Insane that he lived to 62 with all of that weight fluctuation in his lifetime. He had great genetics, most people would be immobile and dead years before that.

My grandpa used to tell a story about him claiming that he was wrestling at the tuscarawas county fair grounds in Ohio and had to use the restroom, sat on the toilet, and it broke under his weight and cut his butt open. I don’t know if it really happened or not but that’s the reason I watched this video to find out about the man behind the myth, thank you for posting this

You have to stay on your game to keep it off. I went from 315 to around 150. Right now I've been able to maintain at around 165 for the last 3 years but have to remain vigilant as the weight comes back very easily. It's worth it tho, I'm not afraid to take my shirt off now.

Giant Haystacks was over billed when he came to North America. He was wrestling in the UK mostly around 575 and later may have hit around 620 or so. The Mccrary brothers weighed in at 727 and 747 lbs. Their weights were billed up higher twice for publicity. Humphrey wrestled at 802 once and later went over 900 after he stopped wrestling. He mostly wrestled around the 750 lbs region. Don’t forget the 620 lb Haystack Calhoun. Yokozuna was around 500 at WWE but he too was billed up several times. Near the end of his life he went over 600.

What a remarkable story. So many questions! How did this guy fluctuate so significantly so many times within his lifetime? Is it normal for people who are that far gone overweight to lose a whole 100 pounds at a whim? How remarkable that he went from like 700 to 250. And to die in his 60s is amazing considering the fact he spent most of his adult life morbidly overweight. Wow.

Genetics. Not only that, but he was put in an incredibly strict diet program by his hospital (he couldn’t leave if he wanted to lose weight).

It has to be genetics because how can a person lose all the weight only to gain it back? I gained like 40 pounds since this covid and I went out last year and started running and I lost a little but when I got sick (unsure if it was covid-19 because it was like a month of almost dying), I lost like 30 pounds and I still run and I don't eat bad but I think it's because I don't really eat at all and my body conserves and I gain weight like that. Right now I'm 225 and if I were 200, I'd feel good but 185 would be the perfect weight for me to get down to.
