Great episode. Might I also add that Metric was Bryan Lee O'Malley's inspiration for the look of Clash at Demonhead, which is why Edgar Wright and his brilliance went and asked Metric for a song for Clash at Demonhead, Black Sheep being a song they just made that they didn't feel fit their upcoming album, so they offered it to Wright and it surprisingly fit very well with the scene it would be used for.

I can remember when I was a kid and first got this game, which I still own my original copy. My dad, my brothers, and I would spend hours together trying to beat this game. We found so much in the adventure, but never did beat it. I can remember getting to Faysha for the first time without using the jetpack. It was a big feat for me, and about 6 years old making it across those weird platforms. They always looked like weird "professor" or "math teacher" heads to me. Sometime later, while playing on a rom, I was determined to finally beat this game. And I did. This game brought us close together and made us learn how to work together. It's such a great game and a memorable part of my childhood. I'm glad you did a video on this. It's definitely worth checking out. I've always wanted a sequel or updated remake of it. Heck, I've even hoped Nintendo and Hal Laboratories would put Bang in Smash. There's so much they could do with him. Weapons, outfits, and maybe even use the Hermit powers in a Final Smash.

This game was part of my childhood growing up, and I loved it to pieces. It was my favorite NES game out of all the ones I had (and I still own all my NES games, by the way) growing up. Over the years, I've liked other NES games more than this one, but it still ranks up in my top 10. Thanks for reviewing one of my favorite NES games and giving it the recognition it deserves.

Very nice work here. This was one of my favorite, if not THE favorite little known NES game from my youth. It's on par with Faxanadu for me. My cousin Tracy had this game and I stayed with them for two weeks during the summer one year and I just fell in love with this game immediately. It was so badass. Bringing together many of my favorite things. Anime, RPG elements, power ups, and an open world. But played more like a traditional shooter making it more fast paced than your typical rpg-like..... And any game with a fairy was usually guaranteed to be good. Lol. Maybe that's my opinion based on my own experience but if there was a bad NES game with a fairy, I can't think of it. 🤣 Love your work. I especially like your videos on obscure accessories and things like that. This is a nice addition. I'm late to the party but I'll be binging Happy Nerd now lol. Keep it up.

I read about Nightshade a LONG time ago and really wanted to play it, but never got the opportunity, and forgot about it... but there was always vague, half-remembered images that I could never put a name or useful description to. And now, here on your video about a completely different game, I finally remember this title. Thank you, HVGN. I feel like a ghost that just remembered what's keeping it that way (I exaggerate, but you get my drift).

Excellent review as usual, looking at all the angles and presenting the ups and downs with equality. As for my cameo in Scott Pilgrim, the hair color snafu was unfortunate but fits the games style pretty well, a game I fully endorse as a neo-retro gem of a game that's more of a love letter to Technos than a movie/comic tie-in, something i'm all about!

I grew up with this game. The soundtrack was part of those happy memories I still have. Whilst I was little at the time and barely understood the story, what I really enjoyed was the various suits you could wear. Speed Boots, the Armor Body. Now that I'm older however, and can still remember a lot of the twists (shockingly), they really make my hair stand on end, even at today's standards. It was a fun, goofy game, with plenty of character. They just don't make 'em like this anymore.

It's kind of ironic how not one of the thumbnails for this video is of a scene from the game you're reviewing, or even an image of you at the very least. This is one of those games that I did not have myself but I thought of many several times as I was growing up and was all like "Oh what was that awesome game?" I was sold on how awesome it was just with the big system of routes that you get to choose. I never knew that there was an actual story, or specific places I was supposed to go.

hey, about Scott Pilgrim, Crash and the Boys was ALSO an NES game, it was an awesome game that was a sports-ish game. I say sports-ish game because calling it a sports game is like calling a whale a fish, while there are shared features, there's still a fair amount of differences. Check it out, it's a lot of fun. Two warning before hand though, most of the events are button mashers so a turbo controller would save you thumbs and controller, and the difficulty might scare off some.
