Love hearing it from Troy’s perspective and I’ll be honest my in time memory was that he hit the bar with the penalty because in the boozer it was difficult to see the tv and after the roar from the miss, Watford were up the park. seeing the clip back it’s even more crazy.

It will be hard for me to find a favourite Watford that gave me better memories than Troy Deeney. Can only thank him for being 1 of the greatest servants to Watford in the club's history. He almost won the FA Cup for Watford in 2016 & 2019, obviously we didn't win 🏆but for a club like Watford to be in with a chance of winning major silverware is a great moment for English Football. Brighton are doing it now.🤞📈

It was karma for the blatant dive. Would have tarnished promotion if you'd gone up with it as well as everyone would have kept on about it. Definitely worked in your favour as you earned promotion the next season and went on to great success

That goal was the prime example of what comes round goes round, you cheat and you will pay. To be honest the true hero of that moment was the whole team, first the goal keeper making an amazing double save then the rest of the players with an amazing counter attack, and Deeney with that wonder shot lol, just brilliant.

As a Leicester st holder that goal was probably more special for us as the next season we won the championship and got promoted. The rest is history Premier League champions, QF of the Champions League, Fa Cup win, community shield win. I truly believe that will probably never happen again by any team and I was just happy I seen it with my own eyes.

One thing Troy didn’t mention here: after he took his shirt off and there was a pitch invasion, he went back on the pitch and no one had taken it, he just picked it back up… 🤣 (P.S. Watford fan here I was only 9 but I was at that game and I’ll never forget the few snippets of it that I can still remember)

Went to business meeting a week after that goal went in and they showed the footage as an example of team work and to never give up..!! And as a Crystal Palace/football fan I jumped up with a YEAH..!! I was not the only one..! It will go down in history as one of the greatest goals ever scored..!! 🙄

the amazing thing about that goal is it happened not two weeks after Marcelo Trotta missed a penalty for Brentford to deny them promotion against Doncaster and Doncaster went down the other end to win the title with Coppinger (not nearly as goosebumpy but the same theme). Was amazing to see two goals scored after penalty misses in two crucial games within a couple of weeks of each other

Kevin Phillips, who scored the extra time penalty against Watford in the final has managed South Shields for the last 2 season and got them promoted this year. We( Warrington town) stopped them getting promoted through the playoffs last year away on penalties and then lost the playoff final against Scarborough away. Tomorrow we have another playoff final at home to bamber bridge so🤞 for that. 🟡🔵🟡🔵
