I think the guy’s childhood trauma and family discontent made him jealous of other, more secure families. Hence trying his best to make people feel uneasy as he did. Then, when he had the chance, eventually couldn’t contain his urge in breaking a family altogether. Absolutely heartbreaking for the families affected

You can get multiple types of murderers. He would be a Type 2 murderer, which often people who commit random murders without premeditation are. If he was that charming over the phone, he was likely socially adequate and quite cunning/smart. It’s scary who can turn out to be a psycho murderer sometimes.
