Thanks Albert. I got the slim pro to use with my X9 Lite and I agree it is pretty solid. I feel like the aluminum case helps dissipate heat pretty well, but it does get a bit warm after a while. I just stick with 250mw though and that works well enough. I can also confirm I got the newer "moxon" style antenna with mine.

Was flying my Nano module with my tango 2 the other day. Even on 100mW it got burning hot. Watched this video to figure out the fan and saw the option in the menu. Thanks. 👍

@o O Yes - I actually tested yesterday! I lowered the fan threshold and my Tango started shaking. 🤣 The fan seems a bit unbalanced. When lowering tx power to same value as fan t.h. the fan stopped mid flight and I actually thought I had a failsafe when tango stopped shaking. 😁

I picked up the Slim Pro model earlier this month and it came with the old T antenna. Fitting it on my Tango 2 with the module bay adapter, the TX is actually too loose and will pop out even when just setting the radio down on a table. Anyway, nice video as always, Albert.

Yes, that can be used for flashing along with changing the jumpers. It's like the previous version. Not sure why they didn't make the hole for it in the case this time. 🤷‍♂️

Currently you can't flash it with ExpressLRS configurator so you can only bind to V2 receivers with the traditional bind method. I don't plan to make a video until the target shows up in there but I hear it won't be until V2.1 is final.

Hi Albert, I've been watching your expresslrs videos for a long time and I would like to be able to update my radio to this system, but I'm pretty lost. I have a taranis qx7, from frsky, and I don't know which module could be compatible or how to install it and make it work. I heard that I should update the radio with EdgeTX first. I think that like me, there will be many people who will experience the same, if at some point you could make a video explaining the process for this radio, it would be of great help. Thank you very much and keep making reviews like this one that are very interesting.

I don't have a QX7 anymore and won't be making any videos for that radio on my channel. There's many QX7 OpenTX videos already on KZbin if you want to learn how to update that radio. I think you just need to update to OpenTX 2.3.13 for ExpressLRS compatibility.

Without a professional level calibrated power meter, there's no point in measuring since the results will be unreliable. When I showed results in the past, some people told me my meter was off by 50% on the high side. Others told me it was off by 150% on the low side. So what's the point?

Debating on getting into elrs. Currently run crsf mostly. have they started making a universal module that includes elrs? Specifically for tango 2. I'd hate to swap back and forth between elrs and my universal module in the field.

Switched from years of crsf to ELRS. Big upgrade in latency and range. (Used to run 150hz locked on crsf, because what's the point of a high end system when the latency js still the same as stock)

@@justfpv1432 meh, I don't really care so much about the latency in the control link compared between the two which is highly dependant on what you are doing. Sure you can get really low latency by sacrificing range and penetration but you might not want that in a big bando, areas of high interference or very long range. If you see splitting the difference is the latency really that much? I'd argue most people couldn't tell the difference. Being cheaper is my only real motivator and it's not THAT much of a motivator. That's why I haven't started builds using elrs. Especially when taking into consideration it's still very clumsy, they can't agree on a standard hardware which creates a nightmare for the devs keeping software up to date for the plethora of hardware differences, and frankly I question the quality of most of the manufacturers and their little to no support or customer service they offer. They really needed to set standards so they can concentrate on features vs a patchwork of what works with what and constantly adding targets. So Idk. Maybe when it gets a little older. I'll stick to proven reliability, ease of use, reputation and customer service for now.

@@juggalizzle75 Me, personally, I need high refresh rates. I was recently forced to turn on dynamic mode, so 150hz crossfire wouldn't failsave (it's got bad range because of FLRC, just like tracer). When it switches between 50 and 150hz, I instantly recognise it, and it pissed me off, I could not fly at 50hz the way I wanted to, so I was severely limited by how far I could go. ELRS at 500hz (crazy low latency) has much better range than Crossfire at 150hz, due to packet size optimization and LoRa. The user experience has also been improved a lot, to the point where it's just as easy, if not easier than crossfire to update (as it's faster, and you don't even need to use the transmitter to update the receivers). Crossfire and ELRS are both great system, just for different purposes. I don't dislike Crossfire, I dislike how lazy TBS is in it's developement.

As of right now, there are no plans to make a universal 4-in-1 that includes ELRS. The issue isn't the hardware. The devs are two different teams and they decided it was too hard to coordinate since ELRS is changing so much faster. Perhaps in a year or so when the development cycle for ELRS is slower then it might be possible.

Have you tried to just install it on Windows 7 anyway? What happens? Any error messages? I don't have Windows 7 to test here... AFAIK, you'll need the configurator to at least make the build files. You could ask someone else to make the build files for you and then flash them via the wifi method.

I was gonna run the micro tx module on my flyskyfsi6x once I download the open tx but I was wondering, I saw the 2 wires (ground and signal) to plug into my flysky but is there a wire for external power like a lipo? (I couldnt tell if there was a fan wire or not) I dont want to kill my flysky batteries. If there isnt a external wire do you know of a 1 watt tx elrs modul that has a external wire and exposed ground and signal wires? Thanks

Good review and timing. Why do the modules that have an external power input plug provide it? So you can use an external source to save your internal battery? Or is there some power level that as you go to 500mW or 1W that the internally connected battery is unable to get enough juice through the internal module connector? Guessing that is why the Radiomaster 5000 mah battery advertises it has an xt30 connector that's just the right length for the CRSF external module, but that would imply this Happy Model module wouldn't work at the higher power??

The modules with plugs is to allow for the radio battery to last longer. As long as the module has enough power from the radio, it will always turn on. However, at higher output power, it will draw more current and may sag the voltage on the radio battery to the point where it might shut off a lot sooner than expected. However, this is mostly the case with radios that use poor batteries or user error. If you use proper batteries, this is not gonna be a big problem unless you fly for LONG sessions over 30 minutes at a time. In that case, people dumb enough to not know how to fly long range properly will experience failures and blame their equipment like we always see on the net.
