HappyModel were the first to market for commercial ELRS gear, so let's test something tiny. It's a testament to the idea of ELRS that, in this video, I'm using a TBS radio a Namimno module, and a HappyModel receiver, and everything plays nicely together.
This receiver was kindly supplied by YourFPV for review, so please take a look at their website if you are in the market for some gear.
You can see the HappyModel receivers here yourfpv.co.uk/...
The Mambo product range here yourfpv.co.uk/...
and the Namimno gear here yourfpv.co.uk/...
...as the Namimno module was supplied by Banggood I should also point to non UK buyers that you can find them via this lovely affiliate link here:
Namimno Flash module & RX's (2.4Ghz): www.banggood.c...
Namimno Voyager module & RX's (868/915Mhz):www.banggood.c...

@CurryKitten the Link Quality isn't important, the rssi dbm is what matters, -30 = fatastic, -108 = your going to failsafe. You'd have to go a good 1-2km to outrange those ceramic antennas.

Double check the bad:good packet ratio when on FreedomTX and 500Hz. It should be 0:500, but you have 0:216, because the mixer syncing doesn't support 500hz. But on 250Hz it will display 0:250. I also have a theory about the heat shrink that HM ships on the SMD antenna receivers. I think it is staining the antenna solder and causing breakages. Just keep an eye on it or remove the heat shrink. Racing! SMD antenna all the way with racing :D

Pleased your back and up and running (or at least walking). This ELRS gear is certainly impressive..judging by your enthusiasm its one that you.. and a lot of other reviewers rate very highly...I have an order placed with Banggood for the Nahhhmmmino radio module and receivers..plus a couple of the HappyModel ones...but as usual with Banggood... says there in stock when you place the order...then its a monthly update as to when its ACTUALLY going to be in stock..so some time this year i hope to try. Great.. informative and interesting review...as always.

Yes - I like ELRS for a few reasons. Firstly it works very nicely in terms of latency and range and secondly I love the fact it's any module on any radio with any receiver. It stops people having to tie themselves to a brand. That said it does need to get a bit friendlier in operation and have some extra protocol support - which it lags behind in comparison to the likes of TBS and IRC, but it's a fantastic start so far. Hope you get your kit through soon !

As primarily a fixed wing flyer I have put an elrs receiver into a Zohd Drift with a small Matek fc running Inav. Early days but and still learning but looks really good. Hopefully the system will develop for fixed wing to fly more complex models.
@CurryKitten
@CurryKitten 2 жыл бұрын
I think ELRS are slowly catching on to the idea of fixed wing flying. There's talk of more full range channels, and I believe someone else is coming out with a board that does CRSF to PWM so you can fly a model without a flight controller. It's early days, but what is there now is impressive - I hope development continues to cover everyones model choice

I can still find them around, but I would take a guess that given that it's not much more for an EP2, lost of people would just go for that instead and have wifi. A case of natural selection?

To be fair, my 2S 2’’ whoop and my 1s whoop still have the SPI RX and it’s plenty good range for what you can do with such toys. For 2.5 and 3’’ toothpick, yep, they all transitionned 😉 AngryDon actually went almost 1km out on SPI!
@CurryKitten
@CurryKitten 2 жыл бұрын
I think SPI is ok for inside, but I had loads of issues outside with little quads. That said, it's usually about the antenna they come with rather than anything else. The little Emax TinyHawk II Freestyle had an SPI receiver with a decent antenna and that worked a lot better. However, hopefully from now on, the SPI rx wiil be ELRS based instead of D8

curryKitten hi can you tell me what size of sd card you use in your jumper t 12 i was trying to flash elrs firmware but not enough memory on my sd
@CurryKitten
@CurryKitten 2 жыл бұрын
It's probably a 32GB card. That's not because it's how much it needs, it just that they are dirt cheap and so there's no point in buying a 2GB card for almost the same price. I'm really surprised it's run out of space, unless you have a very small card and all the language packs and everything you can possibly fit on there. I created a .ELRS pacakge for an R9 conversion a few days ago and it was only 43k in size, for other modules I've only ever seen at up to around 1.2MB

The PP & EP2 are different receivers. From reading Happymodel's website, the EP1 & EP2 are based on the PP and use wifi for firmware upload whilst the PP's firmware upload is by Betaflight pasthrough.
@CurryKitten
@CurryKitten 2 жыл бұрын
I know I've cocked it up in the past, but I usually at least know what I'm reviewing. This is a PP rx, the EP2 looks a lot like it, but the EP2 has a wifi chip onboard so you can update over wifi, the PP doesn't and hence needs to be updated via betaflight passthrough

@CurryKitten
@CurryKitten 2 жыл бұрын
With the ceramic antenna, or a regular. It'll certainly go much further with a proper antenna. With the ceramic - not sure - will then depend a lot on the antenna config of the R-XSR and the type of flight. I certainly didn't feel on that sort of range that it was any worse. I've got another ceramic rx from Namimno, so I might put that in another quad and see how they compare.
