Goodness gracious this is blowing up and I am nothing short of grateful! I was so so scared to share this story - this isn’t even the tip of the iceberg for these kinds of things. And remember, it’s never too late to speak up! I had multiple family members who were all sexually assaulted by the same man. He did it multiple times, and they didn’t speak up cause they were scared. All the victims were male. Thirty years later, after all this time, they took their case to a detective. They managed to get a full confession out of the guy. He was arrested and is going to be in jail for the rest of his life.

When I was in 6th grade (last year) I bent over to help my friend with an assignment *she was sitting down I was standing* and the boy sitting across from her stood up jokingly thrusted behind me while I helped her and this was the first time anything like this happened to me so I just stood there shocked. I agree in spirit, but in practicality, I was forced to do this by my then-bf when HIS FRIEND groped me, and only one of the 4 boys had my back (not my ex. he did not have my fucking back. and when the other 3 guys told me to get bent, the one guy who had my back caved), even though everyone had seen this guy touch another female friend of ours inappropriately, literally IN FRONT OF EVERYONE. A lot of the time, women don't do this in mixed company (ie around men) because it causes immediate harassment and retaliation from ALL men present. In this case, the women could have been fired for "inflammatory lies" and "creating a hostile workplace environment" if they'd warned her in a mixed crowd. That's why whisper campaigns stay as whispers, unfortunately.

Back in my school a guy did the exact same things to me and I wasn’t a person who wanted any kind of conflict so I said nothing, and what made it harder was that we were friends before and I hated the idea of losing a friend, towards the end of the year I decided to tell my parents as they were the only ones that I knew would actually do something about it, and then he just stopped, I expected him to lash out or call me a snitch but he didn’t even talk about it but, I still felt bad, one: because I felt like I betrayed him and two: knowing I could’ve stopped it sooner, and what made it worse was that he did this to everyone in school including my girlfriend, and no one spoke out about it and I thought that I was overreacting or that it wasn’t that deep, the next year I saw him again, he was even in a few of my classes, he seemed to remember me but every time I was around him I just felt really weird and uncomfortable, knowing at any moment he could just start doing it again, right now there is no happy ending as I’m still dealing with it but if this EVER happens to you tell a teacher, family members, or anyone you trust immediately. “There’s nothing more cool then get a hug from someone you like, but if someone tries to touch you in a place or a way that makes you feel uncomfortable, that’s no good.” ~ Sonic the Hedgehog .1993

A substitute did some really creepy things. For example in 7th grade he stood very very close behind me while resting his head in the space between my neck and shoulder.
