Wow... I'm glad you're ok. I'm confident Ohio still would have given you the care you needed though. What you had should count as a high-risk pregnancy in which case Ohio allows abortion in those cases even with Ohio's heartbeat bill in effect. You should have gotten the care you needed regardless, but the trouble seems to be I've heard stories of doctors delaying treatment because they didn't fully understand the legal specifics of Roe v Wade being overturned. Hopefully doctors not understanding the law is very rare now that it's been over a year since Roe v Wade was overturned. Considering Texas and Alabama also allow abortion in cases where the mother is at serious risk like with ectopic tubal pregnancies, I think we can all agree that the proper handling of a miscarriage, particularly in your case, is essential healthcare and that it's fair in legal terms to have the option to get an abortion if the doctor confirms a pregnancy is high risk (though it's also a heroic act to carry a high risk pregnancy to term if the baby can be saved if the mother wants to). Side note: I've done a fair amount of research since I first saw this video about 4 days after it was posted. I have yet to see abortion defined as anything other than the termination of a pregnancy, I don't know where Illy got her definition from (11:33) let alone if it's true, because that would make treating uterine cancer illegal...

Im part of two groups. One of them is called Muslims Against Planned Parenthood, and the other is called Immigrants Against Planned Parenthood. What we do is that during the month of Ramadan, where we cant eat or drink anything, we stand outside of our local one (located in a city where over 65 percent of the population are immigrants or Muslims, so plenty of supporters), but their is one difference from the other protests. We are silent the whole time, we stand their quietly, for 8 hours, without uttering a single word. There have been multiple times where nurses have come out and told us to "go back to Taliban", times where patients would see us, and call us terrorists and bombers. One protester, a guy who escaped the Darfur genocide in Sudan, was seen by a 28 year old patient. She walked right up to him and punched him. She is in jail for assault. Police have ruled on our favor multiple times because we werent yelling anything, not screaming in peoples ears, just standing silently with signs. We have only done this for three years, but two in the St.Paul area have moved because of us, just because of some immigrants fasting holding signs outside. Its crazy

Secondly the percentage of women that get an abortion because their life is at stake are 10%. So what you’re saying cannot be further from the truth. And don’t say pro life don’t care about the actual living person because an abortion = killing a baby so I would say pro choice don’t care about the life of a living baby in the wound And yes we do care for the life of the baby and the women. The problem is that even before the overturning of roe v wade there weren’t a lot of OBGYN doctors, let alone facilities. It is a pretty niche path to go, and doesn’t pay that much. You have to be a special type of person to become and OBGYN after dedicating nearly a decade of school and then rotations, just to choose something that doesn’t maximize the money you make. There is a reason why a lot of pediatricians are older, because not a lot of young doctors want to be paid so little (relatively) after that huge investment.

I’ve seen your constant updates about how this video will be pushed aside by KZbin and other sponsors due to the sensitivity. Which is wrong. People need to be able to speak freely without being squashed. Freedom of speech my behind. I love you Illy. Thank you, not only for this, but for everything you do. 💛

Here in Australia we have "Safe Access Zones" outside of Abortion Clinics. This basically means that it is illegal to protest within 150m of an Abortion Clinic, or harass visitors to the clinic. These laws apply 24/7, 365. And it is fully illegal - if you protest outside a clinic they will call the police and you will get arrested! It's something that's really necessary that isn't talked about heaps, even in states in the USA where abortion is legal unfortunately :(

Yeah, I feel like here in the States if people tried to pass something like your Safe Access Zones into law, people would decry it as a "violation of free speech". It sucks here.

A sexual encounter with someone below the age of consent as someone above the age of consent is rape, plain and simple. Anyone who so much as thinks of doing such terrible things to little girls seriously needs to get mental help, such a crime shouldn't exist in a civilized society... I could swear I once saw a trailer on TV as early as the late 2000s for a story about a 6 year old girl getting pregnant, though I have no idea how true it was. It goes without saying it shouldn't happen in the first place, but girls being able to get pregnant before they're teenagers is crazy and harder to believe the younger it happens... It just doesn't sound like it should be possible. Is it a side effect of excess estrogen coming from women using birth control getting into drinking water? I think it would do America some good if professional fertility doctors came together and published a high profile documentary explaining everything our top medical scientists know about reproductive health in the present day with zero political interference, including mentioning facts both Planned Parenthood and far right republicans wouldn't want people to know.

@@Danap-mykaykat As sad as it is, the sponsors don't want to take a side likely because both sides have some extremists, and the corporate people don't think it's worth the risk. It's a shame that they won't even look at the video (meaning they would never see the part where it's a tumor). It's pretty much the latter half of the video where Illy says lawmakers don't know shit about the laws they're passing. I have mixed feelings on having an abortion, because there's arguments that sound valid for both sides, and because I'm not a female I'll never experience the fear that Illy was going through in the video. However, I believe that in the event that it's the mother or the child, there should be an option for the mother to save themselves if they choose. If the fetus, or "fetus" in the case of the video, is literally killing the host, then the option should always exist to save yourself. Just, if the baby is grown enough, at least try to make it instant death (for it) and lower the rate of failed abortions.

I still remember when I was little and my aunt (who we're all 100% has anti social personality disorder and has done very awful things to me and my family) drove me around in her car and passed a planned parenthood where there were people outside protesting and shouting, she rolled the window down and stopped at the light there and as I watched she just told me that what those people were doing was good and they were right to do so. But even when I was small and didn't understand what was happening all I could see was that they were harassing people and that wasn't okay. Now I know what she was trying to do and I think it's so horrible. I will never agree with her and those people. I agree. It’s a political opinion that everyone has a right to, but that doesn’t mean you choose what someone does to their body. Because when it comes down to it, no one cares about the kids that are actually here. What are people going to do about the ever growing numbers of children in foster care or orphanages? Nothing. But no, let’s eliminate an option so no one can care about women during gestation, postpartum, and medical care, and financial support, and also ignore kids in terrible homes where no one should have given birth. No one fights as hard for a thing that hasn’t even become a thought as one fights for the rights of kids that need to be heard.

My sister had an abortion. The baby had no brain, the medulla was just flapping in fluid inside it's head. There was the tiniest, slimmest of chances that the baby would survive if born, but it would have been a vegetable hooked up to machines, would have been unable to grow, or do anything. Not to mention, the birthing process would have been incredibly difficult on my sister's body, due to the position the baby had grown in. There was a high chance she could have permanent damage, or even die, just to birth a baby that had a 99.99% chance of being still-born. So, she had an abortion. What kills me is that, because of the state I'm in, if she had been born just 25 years later, and had lived the same life, and had gotten the exact same pregnancy...she would have been denied that procedure. Just because of the state she lived in. Something a lot of "pro-life" people don't seem to understand is that this can be a lifesaving procedure, in so, so many ways. So, what they do, is they take away that choice, because of their own ignorance and refusal to even think about the possible consequences of their actions. I genuinely hope things turn around, and start getting better.

And trust me it’s happened, also at home and unsafe abortions are a thing when people don’t have access to abortions. Another thing to think about is how if forced to give birth the baby grows up and finds out it was going to be aborted, most people who were going to be aborted fall into drugs or suicide, and have depression.

@@ruaraidh74here’s a example! death of Dr. Savita Halappanavar, who was denied an abortion. After the Supreme Court’s historic decision to overturn Roe v. Wade, some doctors are highlighting the 2012 death of a pregnant woman in Ireland and warning that the same thing could happen on a large scale in the U.S. Dr. Savita Halappanavar, 31, an Indian-born dentist, died in 2012 in Galway, on Ireland’s west coast, after she was denied an abortion by doctors who cited the country’s strict laws, even though there was no chance her baby would survive, according to Ireland’s official report on the case. Her death shook the foundations of the traditionally conservative and predominantly Roman Catholic country and catalyzed its pro-abortion rights movement. In a 2018 referendum, Irish people voted by a two-thirds majority to legalize the procedure. The avoidable death of Halappanavar, who was 17 weeks pregnant, proved that doctors - not politicians, police and judges - should help decide the best course of action in similar cases, said Dr. Sabaratnam Arulkumaran, the expert who wrote the official report on the case in 2013. “That’s why Biden said that the issue should be between the patient and the doctor, rather than with the law,” he said by phone, referring to President Joe Biden’s speech reacting to the reversal of Roe v. Wade on June 24. In Halappanavar’s case, doctors opted against an abortion because the fetus had a heart rate and anyone carrying out a termination could theoretically have been prosecuted later. “Because the fetal heart rate was present all the time, the obstetrician did not do a termination. If someone decided that she had done it illegally, she would have gone to jail,” he said. Arulkumaran, a professor emeritus of obstetrics and gynecology at St. George’s University of London, added that women’s lives are at stake in the U.S. “I think maternal mortality will go up,” he said. “I think those who are going to be affected are those from lower socioeconomic groups, adolescents, those who don’t have facilities to go for termination.” Unbearable’ pain Back pain first sent Halappanavar to Galway University Hospital on Oct. 21, 2012. She was sent home but returned just hours later after she “felt something coming down” and said she had “pushed a leg back in.” A midwife confirmed that no fetal parts could be seen, according to the official report. Later that day, she described the pain as “unbearable,” according to the official report She was admitted, and on Oct. 23, a doctor told her a miscarriage was “inevitable” because of the rupturing of the membranes that protect the fetus in the womb, even though her baby was a normal size and was registering a heartbeat. The medical team had decided to “monitor the fetal heart in case an accelerated delivery might be possible once the fetal heart stopped,” the official report said. In Halappanavar’s case, an accelerated delivery would likely have meant a medically induced miscarriage. When Halappanavar and her husband, Praveen, asked on Oct. 23 about medically inducing the miscarriage instead of delaying the inevitable, a doctor told them, “Under Irish law, if there’s no evidence of risk to the life of the mother, our hands are tied so long as there’s a fetal heart[beat],” the official report said. The report added that once their waters have broken, pregnant women are at very high risk of infection, which in some cases can be fatal. On Oct. 28 at 1:09 a.m., having caught an infection and gone into septic shock, Halappanavar was pronounced dead “It was a life-threatening condition, but they took the view of not doing anything because of the legal framework,” Arulkumaran said in the interview. There are SO many people who feel forced into it, due to dangers to their own health or the health of the fetus, or knowing perfectly well that they are unable to care for the baby if they gave birth. And people who are like "just put it up for adoption!!" INFURIATE me. It's so fucking ignorant. Healthcare in the US is extremely expensive, including childbirth - lots of people can't afford the medical bills even if they aren't keeping the baby. Pregnancy is also EXTREMELY hard on the mother's body, sometimes with lifelong consequences, which again means medical bills that they might not be able to afford. And more than anything, the foster care system in the US is absolute trash, there are so many thousands of children who can't find homes (I keep hearing stories about foster kids having to sleep in offices and in CARS because the system is so overwhelmed and there's nowhere else to go). Many more foster kids are tremendously abused - statistically way more often than other children - and statistically adult foster children are much more likely to end up homeless or in prison. It's fucking awful. Why would you think that's somehow better for the child OR the parents?? I feel like so many pro-life people believe that people get abortions and "end a life" on a whim, and it's simply not true... for the vast, vast majority of cases, abortion is an absolutely crushing decision, one that the person lives with for the rest of their life, but they feel they have no choice. In some cases, they really do have no choice. And some people will be like "then just don't have sex!!!!!" Like abstinence-only education EVER works... we're human. Everyone makes mistakes. We shouldn't have to suffer lifelong consequences for making a mistake. Especially young people. And it's especially awful to inflict lifelong suffering on the potential child because their parent(s) made a mistake. I just don't understand.

A lot of us came from places of godamned GENOCIDE and ETHNIC CLEANSING. You people genuinely think you have it so hard. I had to escape from my home country of Eritrea because my father was is danger of being FUCKING KILLED BY THE GOVERNMENT. I'm not denying that America has problems, it really does. From college costing a couple millions while men slowly take over women's spaces and sports (I say this as a woman myself). This place has problems, but if you people think America sucks so much and you want to move away, I dare that you won't last a single fucking day in Eritrea. Good luck.

The fact you are telling this is exactly why I started to question if abortion is truly considered a sin in the Bible. Back then, I didn't think much of it. I just thought that people killed unborn babies was wrong in general and that it is considered murder according to God. My mom told me that back then, doctors would give people who choose to have an abortion take a pill which will cut the unborn baby's arms and let them die while still inside the womb. I thought that was pretty cruel but like I said, I wasn't very aware or involved in stuff like abortion. It was only a bit recently that I've realized the dark truth (or simply reasonable reason) as to why women would get abortion. It wasn't just women, it was also young girls who are victims to SA that causes them to get unwanted pregnancy and would be reccomended for them to get an abortion. I also learned other reasons on why women chose to get an abortion that made me reflect on the complexities of abortion. Finances. Health reason. Personal reasons. All of it. As a teenager who is now 18, it makes me feel extremely uncomfortable over the fact that I might get myself into a situation where I may need an abortion for whatever circumstances and have mobs of people harass and shame on me and other people despite not knowing the reason why or just thinks that it is immoral in general. It feels like body horror, as if a woman should not have absolute control of her body which is genuinely frightening and disturbing to hear. It was truly brave of you to share this and I genuinely hope that life is better now with you having better control and freedom of your life. I'm not sure if God may hate my actions for saying this, but God bless ❤

@@LuklioN44 The part about them being chopped up is horrible to say, as well as a blatant lie. I'm sure you know it now, but for anyone else reading this who doesn't, if the fetus is small enough all you need is a pill it will end up being like a heavy period. It will be tiny and the abortion doesn't tear it apart, it just disconnects all the tissue from the womb and the fetus comes out with it. As far as I'm aware it's unrecognizable from the other parts of the uterine lining. In the very rare cases where a larger fetus is aborted what happens depends on the country's standard. I know in at least someplaces in America they do actually cut the fetus up and the suck it out, which is horrific to me. In my country no matter what the reason if I late term abortion is done the person gives birth to it whole without anything causing it to die first. It is often still alive during birth and straight after, but slowly dies after birth. Almost every case of this in my country is due to untreatable defects that'd mean the baby would die anyway. Giving birth to the baby whole allows the birth parent to hug the baby as it dies and let the little life it have end being held. It seems much more humane. There was also a case recently near me where someone had a later abortion due to domestic violence and drug abuse. It was horrific, but also if she'd told her husband she was having a baby the baby would have been murdered. She wasn't able to leave him, if she'd given birth she wouldn't have been allowed to place it up for adoption, it basically would have trapped her to this man for the rest of her life. The only reason she didn't have an abortion earlier was she found out late and she'd needed to find time to get away from the husband. The whole thing was horrific and never should have happened, but it really sounds like it was the best thing for her and for that baby. That man shouldn't be having kids and even if she'd gotten away from him she was still a drug user. It's one of those things where even if that baby was a person and it was murder, I still think it was right.

I had an actual abortion at 10 weeks and I am grateful it was extremely easy for me to access. I literally felt like I was being ripped apart daily. Pregnancy nearly killed me, even at that early stage. I was terrified of my own body and I felt trapped. I did everything “right” (used protection, only slept with one partner) and I was still punished. If I didn’t have an abortion, I would be dead, along with the “baby” that legislators were trying to save.

People just don’t understand how dangerous pregnancy can be
@ancemedi Жыл бұрын
I'm so glad your ok, people seriously don't understand that pregnancy is not safe for everybody. People die from giving birth, sometimes along with their baby. Even if somebody COULD give birth safely, that does not mean they want a baby. Some people are just not ready or are never going to have children, and that's perfectly fine. Thank god you were able to get an abortion easily, it can be so hard going to get one, even if it's easily available. People are so judgemental and they need to mind their business in certain situations.
