I love the 3 little screws jammed together holding this to the table 🤣

It is actually VERY strong. There is no easier or faster way to attach one to wood. I have been attaching them that way for decades! The screws never fail. :-) I am 250lbs, and I have put huge force on them and have continued to hold even 10 years later.

@@niceguy1183 but like is it really that bad to drill a 3/8 hole and put hex bolts in it?

I have the same vise...used heavily for well over 20 years. Take it apart... It's easy and you can fix some shortcomings. E.g., I swapped the rotation clamping bolts with the flimsy built in Tommy bars for M10 bolts with 17mm heads. I always have a 17 nearby and it works for me. Maybe a socket head bolt and an Allen key would work better for others...? Every few years I take mine apart and clean/lube with a high moly grease. On the other hand, if yours is broken and not easily fixed, id scrap it.

I will as soon as it stops turning inward. Until then I got to much other crap to do! I will make a video of it when I do it.

Yeah, stationary bolt came loose. Easy fix if you can do it. Lag it in to the table when you're done. Looks like you've already got your pilot holes...

Screws will NEVER let go! Doing it this way for decades!

E- clip came off, get one at Harbor Freight. And, how do you use a vice mounted under shelves like that, with screws?
@niceguy11834 ай бұрын
I just use it for light auto repair. I have used it for strut replacement already. there is enough room. The screws will NEVER let go. If you use deck screws and deep wood you could not pull it out with a truck!

Buying at Harbor Freight is a *VICE* (for me anyway). The object in question is a *VISE* !

REALLY!!!!!??? YOU USED THREE SCREWS PER HOLE TO HOLD IT DOWN ????!!!! WHATS WRONG WITH YOU???
@niceguy11834 ай бұрын
I have been holding down my vises that way for decades and NEVER had a single failure! As long as your wood is deep enough for a 2.5 in screw, it will always hold! Way easier than drilling and bolting! Try it if yours is over wood. You won't break it loose!

I buy a lot of HF stuff, but their vices are not reliable. Mine snapped after a few uses.

Their pipe vices are solid

I almost got one, but I went cheep instead.....

Will it screw in and clamp tight after you slide it open? I have a vice that you slide out to the desired width and then just a couple turns and it’s tight. It’s really much faster and easier than a conventional vice.

That might be good untill you need to clamp from the inside of something. This one screwed out to begin with.

You know what else is 5”, broke after only light use and just isn’t very good???
