This is a review of the Atlas 80 Volt, Harbor Freight Lawn Mower using the 40V 5Ah / 80V 2.5 Ah Dual Voltage Battery. What's its battery Life? Does it compare to gas? Is the Harbor Freight lawn mower worth it? Can it handle high grass? Are battery powered lawn mowers any good? We'll be testing all these questions within the next few months. Lithium Ion batteries are good , but are they that good?

Thank you! I’m a 68 year old woman and husband had a heart attack so I had to do the whole thing by myself. Even lifting out of box! I really appreciate your video. I read directions of course but I’m a visual learner! Lol😅

That's awesome, and thank you for the kind words! I'm glad you were able to get it assembled and mow down (2-3 feet??) of craziness! That is wild and I'm pumped that the 80V powered through it with no problems. I'm glad to have been of help and thank you for watching!

Locking rear wheels seems like kind of a pain i it would be nice if they made it without the drive because it's not any worse than a gas more you push

Yea, I haven't had a chance to call them and ask why they stopped selling the Atlas push mower. I mean it was basically the same mower, so maybe they thought, they can just buy the self-propelled and if they don't wanna use that feature, they can just push it, but it's there if they need it... go figure.

I have 4 of the Atlas batteries and that slow charger but I should buy the faster one sometime and I actually bought the faster charger a couple years ago but it didn't work right so I just took it back but I might get it again in the future possibly but as of right now I have the 80v weed eater, Pole saw and chainsaw but I'm thinking of getting the blower also sometime when they have a deal again where if you buy an extra battery you can get a free tool but I'm really contemplating on this mower and I haven't bought it yet because I have a really big yard with really thick weeds so I didn't know if it had enough power or run time for my needs but I'm getting really tired of maintaining gas powered mowers that constantly give you problems so I really might buy this one sometime and maybe still use other things that I have some but at least with electric trimmers and mowers and stuff the maintenance is basically almost non-existent without having to always add gas, change the filters, change the spark plugs and all that and I love the 80v trimmer which works great but it's only basically for like really small areas and replacing the trimmer line on it is a pain in the butt though which is the worst part about it or at least it is on mine and the saw cuts awesome but sometimes the chain comes off or I don't always have it adjusted right so that is kind of a pain but I'm really contemplating on getting this Atlas mower also sometime and it looks like they discontinued the version that isn't self-propelled because before they had 2 different versions of this mower where one of them the wheels will turn also which is the 1 they still have and the one you have but it looks like they discontinued the version that was like $60 cheaper that wasn't self-propelled that basically was only using the battery to chop weeds and I was thinking of getting that version actually instead because I was thinking that the battery would last longer on that version and I would just push the mower myself which is what I've been doing lately with my walk behind string trimmer but it has been giving me a lot of problems lately so I'm really contemplating on getting another mower and most likely this Atlas electric one because I already have several of the batteries and I really like the idea of a lot less maintenance but I'm just still concerned about the ability for it to cut thick tall weeds which is what I have but great video man you really went into detail and I appreciate it and you sold me on it I think!

Yea, I hear ya. I can cut around 4,000 sqft. on one 80V battery, so I would think that two batteries would last around 8,000 sqft. of grass. And if you have four 80V Atlas batteries, and less than 16,000 sqft of yard, then I would think you'd be good. If you have that big of a yard, then I'd suggest getting the fast charger. I believe that if you use the side chute and make sure it throws the cut grass to the "outside" and not back to the "inside" of the uncut grass area, that the mower would be able to handle it, but I don't know how thick and tall your grass really is, so I can't be 100% sure. I think they figured that since the self-propelled can be used as a push mower, they just discontinued the push mower altogether. As far as adding more trimmer line, check out this video. It may help the process as it's pretty easy. kzbin.info/www/bejne/o6ikpoKqr9eIn5ofeature=shared Let us know what you decide!

Brother Man, today I just purchased one and boy, it was too daaaang heavy and expensive! 759.00s! This included a 2yr warranty. The cost of the New Green Deal, right? Heavy as in a tank, thought it would be lighter....
@EverythingInBetween22
@EverythingInBetween22 Жыл бұрын
Eekk! I made sure I got the Mower, Battery and Charger as a bundle and got $30 off, plus I used a 20% or 25% Super coupon and the total was around $500 for me including the 2yr warranty. The weight is about 10lbs heavier than a gas mower, I would say. Just depends on what you compare it against. The EGO self propelled is actually a few pounds heavier than this. I'm not having to carry it around, so I've been loving it so far.

just bought one today and haven't used yet. hubby refuses to use grass catcher, can it be used w/o it? also can't figure what is the mulcher's purpose? should I use it or take it off? oh I don't have self propelled. =/ can't wait to review after hubby uses. He thinks I am trying to cause more work as it is only 21" blade/shorter row/blade cut vs 28" blade. Hoping the quiet and ease of use from all other reviews will make him happy and easy.
@EverythingInBetween22
@EverythingInBetween22 2 жыл бұрын
Yes, it can be used without the catcher. You can put on the side discharge/chute and the clippings can shoot out the side. The mulcher function basically keeps the grass underneath the deck and cuts it really fine (kind of like a food processor) and it eventually goes down between the grass blades. It's mainly for giving your lawn/soil, nutrients from the cut grass. To avoid a thick "thatch" of grass clippings on the lawn, be sure you have a reasonable grass-mowing height (not too low); Don't wait too long before mowing a lawn; Mow frequently and consistently so clippings do not turn into thatch. Read up on "mulching" before attempting, so that you're doing it, correctly. Depending on the size of your yard, a 7" shorter blade may make you do a couple extra passes/rows but shouldn't add too much extra time cutting the grass. It's crazy quiet. My wife was looking all around for me and found me in the front yard cutting the grass. She told me she didn't even hear the mower! LOL

Just purchased one less than a week ago and it won't cut or start!! 20:16 when you grab the top lever and press down on the big orange button at the same time.......nothing😡😠 Please tell me if I'm doing something wrong.
@EverythingInBetween22

Hold the orange button down, first, then squeeze the top lever... If it's still not turning on, is the Battery charged? Battery properly/fully inserted? Are you using the 80V battery? Is the Red safety plug inserted all the way in? Safety plug is located in the battery compartment. If it still isn't turning on, you may need to return it to HF. Let us know what happens.
