I bought this to replace the scissor jack that came with my 2008 mitsubishi galant, it was definitely an improvement and a worth while investment
@DereksWorkshopAndProjects4 жыл бұрын
Yes, the only thing I don’t like about it is that it can’t really be safely stored in the cab of a vehicle like the scissor jack is typically bolted down. Outside of that one issue it’s great, I plan to put this one in the utility box in my trailer, and then buy another one for keeping in the truck tool box.

After watching this video I went and purchased it. It worked well for my honda civic winter wheels. Honestly, I don't have a space to store a 3-ton jack.

I use this same jack when working on my 2011 Camry. No complaints at all as far as reliability (used it over 10 times). Though for lifting both wheels from the front/rear the jack can be pretty annoying. It doesn't lift anywhere high enough to lift both wheels and I have to put about 4 inches of wood to make it work. In my case 4in wood + jack doesn't fit under the car so I first have to lift with 2in, put it on jack stands then lift with 4in and adjust jack stands, which becomes very tedious. The main advantage of it is its size and weight. If I didn't live in an apartment I'd get a larger jack and save myself the trouble.

personally, mine is junk. the metal strapping that holds the handle to the master cylinder (?) always comes off, and the wheels are pathetic. one actually fell off the other day, thankfully not while i was lifting the car. i will admit to neglecting and abusing it though so it's probably my fault

I have the 3 ton high profile. My only complaint with it is that when I bought it I read the manual, (yeah I know shocking right) and it said to check the hydraulic fluid level. Well I did and it was low from the factory, which was annoying, so I had to go out and buy jack fluid to top it off. Other than that it's lifted everything I have put it under, I've now had to lift the both front wheels of the Family Kubota tractor with it to fix flat tires. Those were days when I was really glad to have my big Central Pneumatic compressor and an impact wrench as well.
@DereksWorkshopAndProjects4 жыл бұрын
I have the standard 3 ton as well. I didn’t read the manual (not shocking!) and it’s worked just fine. I did however buy stop leak Jack oil just in case I ever needed it, and it turns out I did on the bottle jack on my shop press. The only thing that I don’t like about it is that I bought it and like 4 months later they came out with the really affordable Daytona’s that went on sale one day for like $10 more than the Pittsburgh and I really just like the way they look better. My brother had the orange one. Made me very jealous. Also, sounds like you guys made a good choice on the family tractor. If KZbin ever makes me enough extra cash to justify buying a compact Kubota, I’m definitely going to do it.
@Zombiereaper14 жыл бұрын
@@DereksWorkshopAndProjects yeah, I do somewhat regret maybe not getting the low profile 3 ton at the time, and the Daytona jacks are very nice, but I don't own any low profile vehicles so I haven't had any issues. The Kubota has been a super handy tool for the 5 acres my mom lives on, definitely recommend getting one if you have a large property to maintain. Even stuff you wouldn't think about it being useful for, I used it for example to lift shingles up to re-roof an outbuilding.
@DereksWorkshopAndProjects4 жыл бұрын
Exactly. We are the the middle of buying 2.5 acres of land just slightly out of town. It’s taking forever to close because of paperwork from breaking it off from a larger parcel but it’ll happen one of these days I think. Anyway, I don’t need it now exactly. My first tractor I want to try and get just an old Ford 8n or something similar, cost a couple thousand dollars and a few implements to help work the 2.5 acres and create a little water retention pond, garden area, maintain the drive way, and work the ground for planting lawns and a small orchard. Anyway, then when I get some of my out buildings built and kinda get settled in I’d like to buy a small Kubota with a front end loader for lots of other jobs. It’s just all expensive haha. Right now the focus is on saving about $20,000 to put a well on it right now. Then when we’re finished with school we’ll start working toward building the house.

The only problem with mine is it gets a little unstable if it's too high and I don't know what height may be each time so I'm going to buy a HF 3 ton floor jack. I have to use scissors jacks for the rear end jack stand placement.
@DereksWorkshopAndProjects2 жыл бұрын
I think that’s true, just have a good place to set it and be mindful and usually it’ll be ok.
@sagardesai39793 жыл бұрын
I was looking at using this for tire rotations on my f150. Of course I'm using 4 jack stands but do you think this will be okay to get the front corners up separately and the the back up under the rear diff? Again the jack won't be holding up the truck, just getting it up and then I'm using jack stands. Thanks man. Space and weight is why I like this one over the daytonas.
@DereksWorkshopAndProjects3 жыл бұрын
Ya so obviously everything is done at your own risk and I’m not recommending it or anything but I have an extended cab Chevy Silverado 1500 and it’s what I used before getting a floor Jack and it lifted one corner at a time with that truck fine. Definitely takes up little space.

I just bought this small jack on the road to save space/weight specifically to replace my engine mounts. But, will it lift my Iron 1993 5.2l 318 Magnum V8 engine (around 650lbs tops according to google mopar spec info) 4 inches up with the jack under it's steel oil pan? With a 2x4 between the pan & jack piston? Is the steel oil pan in danger of crunching? I don't know of any other DIY way to replace the mounts.
@DereksWorkshopAndProjects3 жыл бұрын
So I have no idea how it will affect your car. I would think that running a bored across would be helpful but I'd still be concerned with crushing the pan. This jack will definitely lift it though. Sorry I can't be of more help.

@DereksWorkshopAndProjects3 жыл бұрын
Hmm... Putting me under the pressure like that makes me second guess it haha! If you pull this jack out of the box and it works well, then its probably 10/10 especially considering its like $30. If you somehow got a dud, which does happen from time to time, then take it back, get a new one, and you'll more than likely be in good shape. From my experience, its a 10/10. Your mileage could vary.
