My observation, anything after 1980 was an homage to the 68-70 Charger....and also counting the "General Lee" as 1 car....I ask this question of Chrysler......WHAT THE HELL WERE YOU THINKING WHEN YOU CHANGED THE 68-70 CHARGER?????

Beautiful as it was, the 68 Charger was a disaster on the superspeedways. That wide open grill created an air bubble that lifted the front end, and the recessed rear window created a tunnel that sucked all the air off the rear end. So you had a car going 190 Mph with zero downforce. The car drifted all over the track, and Buddy Baker almost lost it several times while testing at Daytona. The 1968 season was a humiliation for Dodge that only won 5 races to Ford's 20. For 69, Dodge put a splitter in the front grill to erase the lift generated on the front end, and then remodeled the rear window, but still didn't help enough. They finally ended up creating the Daytona with the nose piece and huge rear wing to solve the aero problems. Then after Plymouth showed up with the Superbird, NASCAR said this is getting ridiculous and banned the aero package. And by then, a lot of the competition had already switched from the boxier look to the rounded and more aerodynamic body styles.
