As french : the way "chauffeur" is pronounced in english is actually pretty close to the french pronunciation (And if it wasn't it wouldn't really matter because once a word is used in the english language as an english word then the way the word is pronounced is up to english speakers

English is 3 languages in a trench coat. It makes very little sense

It's like half a dozen languages in trenchcoat. With borrowed words from other languages crammed in all the pockets. It's like the hoarding gremlin of languages.

I'm a native English speaker, and I don't know any other languages. It took me 5 times to pronounce the word properly, and on a daily basis I blend words together when I speak because my brain tries to say both at the same time. An ongoing joke in my family is that I'm not actually fluent in the only language I know.

If you're ever worried about how you're pronouncing a French word in English, just find the nearest French person, and ask them to say "hot dog". You'll feel better

No the black t shirt girl said it great! - a french Tbh what really annoys us isn't that you dont have good pronunciation that's normal but that some people are really annoying about it and pedantic like "no its not Cwascent it's CwoSsAnTE" and neither of it is right, or when they act like our language makes no sense when they just werent paying attention in school to understand how it works

Nothing pisses me off more than French people making fun of english pronounciations of french loan words because 1) They are loan words. Thus are no longer being used in the context of french but rather the context of english. So you cant say it like the french do because it sounds wrong to use two different languages (or more) to construct a sentence, and it's not intuitive because french has different rules for how groups of letters are said (oi is ua for example) and 2) THE FRENCH DO THE SAME THING! Because that's how language works! You adapt words to your language! Noone forces them to say brand names correctly, or english loan words correctly, so why are they so pressed when english people doing it? So say chauffeur like tchowfer or whatever else, it's how languages evolve anyway
