Sooo much drilling! :O My father was a sculpturer and worked with stone. I used to help him for knocking out the initial extra material so i don't get bored of sitting arround. When I was a kid, my father was hauling semi loads of A/Nitrate to newly opened mines in Central Queensland. On one occasion we went into Goonyella open cut.........which was a big mine. The truck would drive directly onto the bench to unload the 25kg bags of AN. The miners would unload the bags by hand and stack the correct number around each drill hole (about 1000kg) and move on. We were parked on the bench and I wandered over to the previously blasted section which just had enormous earthquake cracks all thru it..........and a sheer cliff edge that dropped off hundreds of feet. In the distance was their rather large Bucket-wheel excavator digging into the benches. I hear that later the Bucket-wheel broke in half and fell into the box cut LoL.
@demolitiondavedrillandblast3 жыл бұрын

We love those out in the country jobs where we get to see all the action, but I do worry about your filming gear. We see a wee rock come close to the drone @14:03 for instance. Have you ever had any impacts? I parked a fairly new Mavic 2 Pro 20M up a skinny poplar windbreak tree today, so that's going to cost me. ,you ever use nitromethane instead of diesel ? Ever use aluminum powder@ 20 % with anfo?
@demolitiondavedrillandblast3 жыл бұрын
No, legalities prevent the mixing of such in this jurisdiction, not that I would want to handle micron sized aluminum anyway.
@danpollard42103 жыл бұрын
l think Aluminum sawdust size,not micron size,was used to increase the temperature of the detonation.i was thinking to use it in the lifters,and heaving charges to increase the "heave" of a. Charge they call it here in USA.LIKE THEY use aluminum mixed with iron oxide (thermite) they called it,to Weld big 90 pound Railroad track together or cut it.all the aluminum mixed with rust(Thermite) makes over 5000 degrees. Say 10 grit Aluminum mixed in with the anfo,heats,and expands the combustion temperature and adds a lot more energy to the charge.there is a bit of velocity lost, but the"heave" multiplication is a good trade off .you get a lot more gasses in that higher temperature burn. Would guess it's d.v is probably about as fast as 20% straight nitro dynamite ask a n old welder thy can tell you.a wouldn't mix rust in with it until I ex perimeted a little.might slow it down too much to go off easily I donno.grind or file some off an aluminum screendoor use a fine aluminum screen wrapping the charge magnesium filings would probably work well too You get the idea!
