I loved the Mirage. Steve Wynn knew what he was doing when built it. I used arive in the moring and sit at the bar under the atrium with all the sunlight coming in. I was hoping they would keep the atrium.

I spent a few winters in the desert southwest in the early 2000's. I remember the foliage and the scent outside before entering the casino. The white tigers were on display behind glass. A very cool & unique experience.

Hope they build a giant round center bar like the old Hard Rock. That was the best bar/casino scene late 90s early 2000s

That snake looking thing is called a rebar cage. The crane operator has mad skills using both his main hoist and auxiliary hoist at the same time to stand the rebar cage on end.

The rebar cage is for one of many concrete pilings extending below the ground to bedrock to anchor the foundations of the new guitar hotel. Holes drilled deep into the ground are refilled with concrete and rebar so that the new building will neither settle in the soft earth above the bedrock nor collapse in high winds. The length or depth of the pilings is monumental.

I'm sad they couldn't find some way of keeping the Atrium. Also, Bror do you think they will change the street name of Siefried and Roy?? What a change so far, you'd never know the Volcano and water falls were ever there, Funny when you mentioned about those cranes leaning to the left...course if a sink hole were to happen because the ground being so saturated...well, anything can happen.
