I've been using Lattices for a few days now and one application that I've found that it's good for is adding cushions to, say, a chair. You could make it conform to the shape of a chair's frame, and it looks really good too!

Thanks a lot! I was trying to drape an old, tattered tapestry (plane) over a crossbeam, and was trying to use the simple deform modifier to bend and ripple it, and get it to hang crookedly, etc., but the lattice worked to get the effect I wanted, thanks to your tutorial. To get the ripples, I used a few more "loop cuts" in the lattice (7 in each direction), with 30 loop cuts in the tapestry). Then it was a matter of repeatedly tweaking the position, rotation and scaling of the lattice vertices until it looked right.
