I got kind of emotional when I stumbled across the characters playing this song by the campfire. It was the moment I realized for sure that the developers weren't just using the rural setting and characters as a joke, but that they actually cared about it. It strikes me that they had genuine respect for the independent American spirit that animated both the cultists and the resistance.

Not even that. From a gameplay standpoint its a huge development from far cry 4. The world is more immersive and this random event made the characters feel human rather than the usual outpost guards.

Me and my mate would play farcry till 5am during Christmas holidays. When we were about to fall asleep we’d find a camp with this song and sleep to it. This was 6 years ago but still my favourite tune till this day❤️

To be fair the average was pulled down by infant mortality and young deaths. Once you got past those there was a good chance of living to 60 or above its actually like this for most of human history. Kind of says alot about how we now cherish childhood to the point of thinking of it as being almost sacred as what we consider to be a normal/healthy childhood leading into adulthood is extremely abnormal. Essentially as Awful as it sounds it wouldn't have seemed so bleak back then because it was a mundane fact of life that didnt cause nearly as much misery as it would comming from a world with a better life expectancy.

When I stumbled upon the group of guys singing this around their campfire in FC5, I teared up. It was a sudden realization that these were everyday people that had suddenly had their way of life ended forever by the Peggies. This version is gorgeous.

This version feels more weary and sounds like a man with little hope in "Hard Times" trying not to completely break. The version by the Longest Johns is much more cheerful as if they jut got over many struggles and seems to be looking towards a bright future.

I stumbled across this in the game when my mum was terminally ill it teared me up and caused me to deeply reflect on life. When she was dying in the hospice unresponsive but I knew she could hear me I played this version of the song to her and she groaned and died. Farcry 5 maybe a game to some people but I used it to escape from the painful world I was living in and she heard this as she left this world. I think I did the right thing.

I figured out the chords on acoustic guitar… put a capo on third fret from standard tuning. It goes C chord then to F chord than back to C chord and then to G bar chord. Than repeat through the song. If it helps listen to it and kinda place the rhythm and chord progression with the lyrics. For me when I play it I decided to speed it up a bit in tempo because I felt it was to slow for my style of singing. But yea from standard tuning put a capo in third fret. C F C G barred repeat you can strum or pluck

When I first heard this, my jaw dropped. I exploring the Whitetail Mountains along a river on New Game+ when I heard a militiaman sing this. "Hard Times Come Again No More" is one of my favorite folk tunes and I reflexively started singing along. Not a gunshot or Chosen pilot interrupted the moment. It spoke volumes about the story and the world of Far Cry 5. People tortured, murdered, and brainwashed by a cult, all they have is hope for a better future, the exact message of the song. Ironically, that simple moment instead made me pause in counting life's tears and instead find peace in sitting be the river in the only moment of quiet I could find. It hurt all the more to know how that story would end, that the people of Hope County would never have peace again and the song was being sung to an audience who's sole member was a cruel, unforgiving God. This single moment damn well choked me up in it's beauty. Truly, a beautiful game

Was she old? They get old and die in their sleep sometimes it's peaceful but upsetting. Most cats I've known (you don't own cats ) sorta get tired and awnry and go find someplace they can be some and they curl up and sleep forever

Since leaving this comment we also had a baby boy, he's almost 6 months old now, and we just found out that we're expecting our third. Just the other day both kiddos were tired and I sat down with them both and sang this song to them. I know they don't know what I'm saying, but it reminds me to slow down and enjoy each and every day with them, and raise them to be the best of me.

I had my player character and both companion characters kneel down before the NPC playing this at a campfire, with his NPC buddy sitting beside him-.. Listened to it over and over as I cried for the world, myself and all the hard times that I would indeed love to see come again no more; maybe if I practice enough I can perform this with an entirely choreographed music video in a genuine attempt to help stop the fussing & fighting... 🥲💓🎶
