Really appreciate your videos! So many intriguing Lionel items we’re available back then..

Yes, the map is one of them. That thing is huge and has some really cool details on it. A real lesson in the past road names from the 50's. Thanks and glad you liked it. Brian

As retired with 33 years on 3 different railroads, I would love to see one of these some day. Thanks. 😊👍

You would certainly enjoy seeing the old lines as well as what was around you. These do show at trains shows and online auction sites. Most are in great shape if not new. Enjoy. Brian

Brian that map is spectacular! What a great find on your part! And you know, the nostalgia's almost heartbreaking, LOOK at all the heralds of those once-prominent but now-gone railroads around the border. Almost makes you weep to think of what was. I really got a kick out that old Colgate ad! As far as I know only the tooth paste ( Excuse me, DENTAL CREAM!) in the tube is still around, all the others like Rapid Shave, Wildroot Cream Oil, the aerosol Colgate Dental Cream can and the Halo shampoo are gone. I remember some of the ads too: "Colgate! With GARDOL!" "Hay-LO everybody Hay-lo! Halo is the shampoo that glorifys your hair!" Quite a catchy jingle! Thanks for posting!

Thanks, the Colgate tie-in is great. That is how many they had on hand to be able to accommodate giving away 3000 maps. Would love to know more about who won and how they got the prizes. Brian

That map is pretty cool, for sure. I've seen plenty of other railroad maps, but never one from Lionel. It is a nice item and the fact that there is a full carton with the maps still in their tubes and never opened, is a nice find. Keep this cool content coming, as it is fascinating. An excellent video, as always.

Another great video of an item that is quite interesting to learn about. It would be a great framing piece to have in the layout room. Most of those railroads never made it onto a piece of Lionel rolling stock. Thanks for sharing, Brian.

I looked at theses in the old catalogs but I still don't think I realized how big this map was. Nice bonus of the Colgate promotion. Love that master carton as well.

Thanks for the comment, these are pretty cool. Yeah, not going to break up the set of 6 at this time. Should be able to find one at York brand new in the tube for sure. I'll keep an eye out! Brian

That was interesting but what was more interesting than the map was that sheet of production numbers. You have any more of those to show?
@BriansTrainRoom3 ай бұрын
The production number have been found for 1957 and 1958. It is reported that it was just what was planned, but numbers were cut late in 1957 for that year. It gives a glimpse into what they were making and how they planned for the year. I reference them when relevant. Thanks for the note. Brian
