Will definitely have to keep my eye out. It's always fascinating when subtle little changes resulted in oddballs like this! I'm generally not out to try and find everything Lionel made, only my favorites- but I'm still appreciative of it all. And it's always exciting when you do find something a little unusual.

Hi Brian, this is a great video. I’m no train freak but I enjoy hearing stories about these toy trains during the postwar era.

Thanks for the comment. Just sharing my passion for postwar Lionel Trains and having fun doing so. More stories coming up!. Enjoy! Brian

Very interesting - learned a lot I was not aware of. Many that had an open pilot are found with the lower coupler bar broken. Lionel even made a metal nose support - part no. 204-78 to repair the broken coupler bar. I have one of these and have no idea how common this part is. I especially liked some of the paint schemes used on these locos and wish they had been used on the earlier versions with a die-cast frame. Thanks for sharing!

The Alco diesels are really great to collect and operate and are very attractive. The coupler bar is the most fragile part and they are often broken. Great runners too!. Thanks, Brian

Quite nice! Another piece of Lionel history that is mostly unknown. I'm not an FA guy, so I don't know much about them, either way. I really like learning about this stuff and this is another fine and informative video. Excellent, as always.

Thank you. What I love about our hobby is that everyone collects or operates differently. So, there are guys who want everything and need this information. Others, are just learning and want to know what to look out-for. Keeps it fun!. Thanks. Brian

What was it with quality control on the production setup for the Santa Fe Alcos?!? The 221 olive drab was also a production mistake, but as you pointed out Lionel rather than waste the shells just made them work.
@BriansTrainRoomАй бұрын
Hey Derek, you are right, mid 60's was a little more loose, but still had to make money, so using what you had to meet production goals was the new norm. Pretty cool variation! Making toys!! Thanks, Brian
