I love Path of Exile, but also completely understand a lot of criticisms of it. Still, it can be a little frustrating hearing someone say things that I don't think are correct about it, but I don't think the right response from fans of the game is to get defensive. It usually comes off like they're trying to reassure each other that it's ok for them to enjoy the game, which makes the community come off even more culty to new players. Then again, most people I know who enjoy the game stay far away from the subreddit, so that part of the community at least is probably already too far gone.

Oh sick. I just recently subbed after watching your trying to find the best ARPG episode that you did path of Exile and it's funny cuz I commented that. I wanted to know if you had tried ruthless yet but I don't think it was implemented into the game back then so I'm super hyped to watch this since ruthless mode, even softcore is challenging enough as it is, but compared to regular POE I thought maybe you would actually like this mode a bit more.

Playing ruthless mode seems like a very bad idea. It's already controversial in the community, designed specifically for some select few players who want a more classic experience. It's not what the game is, it's a niche side-mode that makes the game deliberately super slow. Playing it will not give you a relevant idea of what the game is like, I think.

I disagree. Ruthless is definitely not just a side game and imo a pretty good way to start out as a newbie. This is because the main game is way too convoluted for new players. Ruthless is nothing like the early days of PoE. It’s definitely slow but that’s not a bad thing for a new player that should be taking their time and learning the game’s mechanics.

Oh god I saw the first crucible and was just screaming. Don't charge it all the way for God's sakes. Don't charge it all the way. It's an extremely awesome OP League mechanic but early do not charge it more than like. Maybe 10% 20 maybe but only if you get like a bit more movement speed or something. Also pretty sure they disabled Oni in Ruthless.

PoE is what really sucks balls. With the illusion of being complicated, the closer look that reveals how dumbed down the formula really is makes it total garbage. Anything works. There no way to fail. Garbage game.
