Bach laid the foundation, Mozart built the frame. Liszt constructed the walls. Beethoven roofed it, and Chopin did the finish caprentry and painting. And thus. the fine mansion of classical piano was erected for all of us to enjoy. Many others, such as Rachmaninov, furnished it with elegance.

I've listened to so many interpretations of this sonata: Argerich, Rubinstein, Giles, Pogorelich, Gould, Lipatti, and Hofmann to name just a few. But there's something so magical about your interpretation. You manage to bring out the really mysterious and unsettling nature of it in a way that maybe only Hofmann manages to do. Your is one of my favourite interpretations. Thank you!

Excellent. If there was one word for me that described this piece, it would be 'poise'. And it is present in all your Chopin playing. The virtuosity of the piece is obvious but bringing together the different component parts, sections, takes timing patience and gives it a 'restrained' passion that is at the heart of 'good' Chopin playing. In my opinion of course. (I love the rubato in this too).Well done.

I'm no pianist, so I'm only making uneducated guesses, but a part of what makes this piece so difficult must be that if you get the rhythm even slightly off, the melody doesn't make sense. Beautiful!

For me, it’s mainly the emotional and technical aspects. In this particular movement, where quiet parts are common, fast and fluent playing is extremely difficult. Not to mention the insane technical challenges put on the pianist
@pepegabrain9316
@pepegabrain9316 2 жыл бұрын
The hardest part for me is that its a lot to memorise and its easy to not take enough rest. The technique is kinda managable if you practice it enough but can also get sloppy very fast if you dont revisit the piece for a few days. There are also 2 parts with quite difficult technique, the most difficult one starts from 4:50 the hardest part about this is 5:02 till 5:10 if u done with that and the one like scale at 6:20 the technique is kinda doable. Other hard parts to learn in this piece is the slow part at 1:33 its very hard to play well... this movement in particular isnt the hardest piece from chopin the full piece might be considered hardest tho, this is still the hardest movement of the 4 i would say if technique is no problem for you otherwise its def the 4th movement the 1st movement is also the only movement i played so far and a bit of the 4th. Im kinda bad tho

Nearly all professional pianists have the Chopin sonatas in their repertoire. It's not like he learnt it in 2 days lmao. He is playing it beautifully. But I'm pretty sure he has learnt many pieces in the past and is reviving them for recording/performance at our requests. Not that that's less impressive. That's what pianists do. And the fact that Traum has learnt so much repertoire is nothing short of brilliant.

When I want to get motivation, it pushes me forward. When I'm too depressed to go on, it speaks to me. It's going to be the song I request at my funeral no matter how it comes about with a note from me explaining why Chopin never releasing it in his life because he always felt it was missing something is exactly how I feel the entirety of my life has been.
