Hardest Decisions Ever!! Phil's Specialist Consultation Turns Into Sedation And 5 Biopsies!!

Hey guys, results aren’t expected for the next 2-3 weeks and then they expect further testing to be carried out. He is quite sluggish at home and wanting lots of cuddles. Its pouring rain today and the vet said to keep him warm and take it easy because he has had a lot of blood taken, so the heating is on we are curled up under a blanket editing this video to get it up for you tonight.
We didn’t expect so many tests and minor surgery to be carried out on our consultation and were very surprised it went to this level so quickly.
Phil Means everything to us and we will do everything we can to do the best by Phil. Phil deserves the best from us as he has given us endless happiness and he is such a brilliant dog, he needs our help to fix this for him and we promised him we would.

Questions Ingrid the vet asked us during our 15 minute car phone consultation:
When did you get Phil was he a puppy? - Yes from 10 weeks old
Where did you get him from? - An Alaskan malamute breeder in Liverpool
Have you ever taken Phil abroad? - Yes to Switzerland and France.
Did you go to the south of France? - No just the alps and North France, he had the hair loss before we went to Europe
Was it just in 2018 that you went to Europe? - Yes but how did you know that? I can see when you applied for the passport
How is he eating and drinking? - Normal hes always hungry no changes to diet drinks fine.
How are his poos? Fine consistent 3 times a day.
Has he been coughing or sneezing at all? Yes he sneezes all the time but that’s his way of showing excitement
Does he get a discharge from his eyes or nose? - No
Any vomiting? - no
Does he live in the house? - yes
Where does he sleep? - in the house he usually sleeps on cold tile floor but if hes wet after bath or rain he’ll want to sleep on carpet where its warmer
How many people in the house? - 3 humans and another malamute and cat
Any skin lesions on those? - no
What has Phil eaten since he was a puppy? - He started life on dry pedigree but for the last 4 years he’s been on Applaws grain free wet and dry food, flavours chicken and ham or beef
What does he get for treats? - he gets Applaws tuna loins or just normal treats and peanut butter generally all natural
Does he get any dairy? - yes Greek yoghurt ice lollies with peanut butter. No other dairy
Where does he go for walks? - All over the place parks, fields lakes beaches
How often does he walk every day for? - An hour but he’s quite slow and calm on walks.
How do you groom him? - we wash him at home with oatmeal shampoo
Any other illness? Anal Gland issue May 2019
When do you think his hair loss started? Probably about 3 - 4 years ago
When did he start Thyroid medication? - November 2019
Any change to his weight? - Not drastically only 2kg
Does he swim a lot? - No but he loves wading in water up to belly depth
Any change to his hairloss over the seasons? No consistent throughout the year
Are your two malamutes related? No from two different breeders related by love only not blood
Are you in touch with the breeder any issues noted? Yes still in touch and nothing with his parents or the rest of his litter.
Has Phil ever had any biopsies done? Yeah when he had the anal gland issue
Then we cut back to the video and she came to collect him.

I'd be happy to do that too. We had a cat, Jerry, who had small growths all around his ears. He'd scratch his fur off in that area and his ears produced a waxy discharge. Our vet performed laser surgery on him. The growths never grew back, the discharge stopped and Jerry grew his fur back on his head. No complications! It was a perfect vet moment. Absolutely perfect. Now it's Philly bears time for that same moment.

7k raised so far and your target was 5k. People love your dogs. I think any treatment cost will now be covered. All the best, i hope everything will turn out ok. In a fortunate position to have so many supporters. Many owners would never have that kind of money if they needed it. That's so sad to feel helpless, not having the money to cover the medical costs of your family. If you don't mind me asking, why did you need to raise so much for treatments? What kind of treatment and tests cost that much? You said each test costs £1200? If so, that's insane. They should be helping animals and families not grossly profiteering from their suffering. It's obviously none of my business how to spend any additional money left over from the gofundme. Hopefully way under 7k will cover all necessary costs, and if so, then maybe you can spend the rest of it on something tangible for the dogs so all the contributors can watch and enjoy whatever you get them in your uploaded video, or even better donate some to other dogs in need of help. By no means i'm telling you what to do, it's basically what would've crossed my mind :)

@@arsenalmanic Hi, These are expenses are not uncommon. When I took my dog to the vet, I always dropped around USD $300 for a regular visit; when he had tests and injections it was about USD $600. The insurance was useless. I'll never forget this one visit. My sister and I adopted a senior black lab. One night, my sister absent-mindlessly broke off what we thought was a raisin dinner roll and gave it to him. Then I realized raisins were poison. We bundled up Sugarwags, took the roll and went zooming off to an emergency visit with the vet. She took one look at the roll and said it was a currant role, not raisin. That visit cost $300. I would recommend to Shane and Emma-Leigh to hold onto the excess money for a bit - Phil may need other meds/treatment.

If all your followers donate 1 - 2 £ or $ there is no thing to worry about the vet bill 😉😅😍 Last year we lost our beloved dog crazy Daisy cause of cancer 😭😭😭 With all treatment and injections, x-rays, ultrasound and all that stuff and at least putting her down we had a bill about almost 3000 €... Everybody of the family and friends collect money for Daisy and the vet released a part of the bill. So we had only to pay about 500 Euro... If we hadn't the money we would sell one car or something else... Our animals, 1 dog and 3 Maine Coon cats are full family members and we would do everything for them 😍😍😍😍😍

I have never clicked on a video so fast in all my life! I was actually waiting for the video to be released. Love Philly Bear as if he's my own dog as he reminds me of Molly Monster my dog who sadly passed away in 2017. Hopefully all the tests/biopsies will be worth it and Phil can get the right treatment. Totally wasn't expecting the consultation to turn out how it did. When she said you can go home and come collect Phil later my heart sank... I feel for you and your family. My eldest dog developed tumors over the last 6 months. Just like most would for any child, I have taken her to specialists for treatment. It has also run me several thousand dollars for treatment for her, but since she is my fur child, she's worth every penny. Thankfully, her last diagnostic exam showed the Histiocytic Sarcoma is stable (not growing or creating new metastasis) and her pyogranuloma is reducing and closing. And yes, I have gone through the same. One procedure, an MRI, ran $2,800 (2230 Pounds) and I have had to leave my dog for hours worrying the entire time multiple times in the last 6 months of treatments. Good luck and prayers.

I can relate, I did the same thing, set up GoFundMe for surgery that my Shih Tzu Bobby needed but got no help, he passed away good friday 2018 and I just finished paying for his vet bills and cemetery burial

Your not crazy. I was always anxious when I had to leave Jake with the vets. I felt the same way. You didn't properly get to part with him... but you got him back. Hopefully with a good prognosis. Hugs to you and Shane 🤗🤗🤗

yeah animal allergies suck, my cat is allergic to grass amonst other things, he has to be on a specal dry hypoallergenic cat food, pretty useless. He pines to go outside, but if he does he ends up ripping his own fur off.
