Another great video. Saw something "new" to me, that makes perfect sense; putting the car in Neutral to keep load off of the axles and transmission and using the pry-bar to hold the rotor/axle steady for torquing. I'm a little embarrassed to admit I've never done that. Doh!!
@hardlymovingpro5 жыл бұрын
A subscriber noted and criticized that I torqued on the axle shaft bolt (180 lbs) with the car in park arguing this could hurt the transmission. So I took that constructive critique to heart and now torque down these nuts with the transmission in neutral.

I installed my CV axel replaced the Ball joint and once I got everything on we put it in park and makes a grinding noise what could this possibly be?
@hardlymovingpro3 жыл бұрын
Grind noise when moving and stationary? If moving, could be bent brake dust shield rubbing against the brake rotor.
@jdthekidd40653 жыл бұрын
@@hardlymovingproThe grinding noise happens only when i shift the car into park, its unbearable. We replaced the CV the exact way we was suppose to and re assembled everything correcty for fact. I will say when the cv popped out it was due to the balljoint popping out of its socket, which we also replaced, the CV was in good condition just the rubber boot exploded because balljoint. The car after we replaced the CV didnt wanna go in park or in reverse at first then we finally got it to go without force but the wheel wanted to do full rotations for some reason? And at first the rotors wanted to spin while parked? we fixed that as well tho,.. I dont think its the dust sheild because it aint touching the rotors directly , we checked that. We have came to the idea that either the ring on the CV aint wanting to click in, and the threads where you pop it into the transmission arent stripped or nothing and no dust on the surface. The other idea we had was we leaked all the transmission fluid out, because i assumed since cv was attached to the transmission? Last thing I can think of is maybe the parking pin? but i have no idea where that is located and dont exactly know the purpose even after research. I have a 2003 Acura CL Coupe 3.2L hardtop. The axles normally do not require replacement unless: 1. The axle shaft or cv bearing / cage has been damaged (like driving into a large pot hole). 2. The cv boot has split releasing its lubrication grease which will result in pre-mature bearing wear. You can stay ahead of a cv boot split by replacing it and packing it with new grease. Here's a video I made showing you how: kzbin.info/www/bejne/qZXClJWPa9mihaM
