If your Explorer was anything like mine, it would have taken a hell of a lot longer to do than this job. Mine was under the manifold, and under various wires and another hose. A pain in the butt to get to, and get out.

Make sure you’ll check it’s not the sensor that’s leaking first. This advice will save you money and time changing the whole thing. For some it’s the sensors o ring or the whole sensor and for other it’s the whole housing.
@hardlymovingpro2 жыл бұрын
The housing is made out of cheap plastic and has a reputation on cracking and leaking. Better off replacing with a better made aftermarket replacement.
@Str8Ac3gAming10 ай бұрын
Getting a better housing with sensor is actually cheaper then getting another sensor itself. I upgraded to the aluminum house with sensor, it was only 30 bucks while the sensor itself was 22.

Is it easy to remove the thermostat from the housing and swap in a different thermostat ?
@hardlymovingpro7 ай бұрын
Yes it is. The problem is the housing is made of plastic and tends to form cracks.
@bikdav2 жыл бұрын
If you know, is the rubber hose span between the heater connector and the thermostat housing the same size at both ends? That is what is intermittently leaking on mine.
@hardlymovingpro2 жыл бұрын
Can't say. But with problem hoses that don't seal properly with various hose clamps, I apply a light coat of RTV on the hose contact surface. You should experience a leak free seal.
Does it matter where the little burp hole goes on the thermostat? Because you put it 1 way. As I have seen others. But have seen others before they take it out the burp hole is towards the back of the housing.
@hardlymovingpro Жыл бұрын
Do believe it matters.
@TyRC12 Жыл бұрын
@Hardly Moving Productions I put it towards the back. Because I seen when others changed it before they took it out the burp hole was at the back. I successfully burped it last night. Most not matter horizontally.

Do you by any chance understand why there is a dashboard message "low oil Pressure"?
@hardlymovingpro3 жыл бұрын
If your oil dip stick oil level is okay, it could be the oil pressure sending unit is malfunctioning. Otherwise, your oil pump is bad.
@chrisz.99743 жыл бұрын
Man, yours is easy lol. I’ve got an 02 Sport Trac. You need to split the housing in two to be able to fit it under the intake, or completely remove the intake to be able to fit it under. Mine is one whole piece like yours. I don’t want to separate it like most do in fear of breaking any water right seals and what not.
