This video shows you how to install a thermostat housing on your 2002-2005 Ford Explorer. The thermostat controls the flow of coolant in your vehicle’s engine. When a thermostat fails, it can lead to overheating, which will damage the engine. One sign of a faulty thermostat is a cool upper radiator hose when the engine is at full operating temperature. It’s important to replace the thermostat immediately if you suspect it is failing.

Just did this. A few notes to hopefully help others. The wire harness on my was much more snug, I had to remove the top hose and bolts and was able to remove the housing out of the back, leaving the harness in place. I drained close to 5 quarts of coolant which was enough for me to remove all hoses without excess drip, I still had a little coolant left in the reservoir (not even close to the cold fill point) I ended up putting roughly 7 quarts back in and still need to add another 2 quarts. I've read that these hold 11 of it's bone dry so I was pretty close to emptying it completely. I was worried about rust so I sprayed the bolts with pb blaster a few times leading up to the swap. Fortunately there wasn't an issue. Thanks for the video. We'll see how this one works out

7:10 -- hose must be very loose on the pipe for those steps to get the bottom hose onto the pipe...
