NC is a gem. It’s definitely getting crowded in the mountains but if you put in the work it pays tremendously. We have a lot to choose from and the wildlife department has easily accessible to information.

Yep! We could have definitely avoided the pressure better by getting farther from town. But that just wasn't what we wanted to do in this particular instance. I've gone into some backcountry areas and never seen a person! Thanks for watching

I wholeheartedly agree on the rainbow trout comments you made in the video. Tribs around here are absolutely loaded with small rainbows. Unless you're above a certain elevation the brookies can be tough to come by, at least compared to other states. I've got a few spots around here where I can regularly catch a wild slam but you have to grind and cover a lot of water.

Hi, will you ever try fly fishing with a New Zealand strike indicator? In some conditions on the river, it is a very effective method of fishing, and for example, instead of a New Zealand strike indicator, you can use a larger dry fly that also catches fish,
@hardmanfishing9 ай бұрын
I mean I use dry dropper rigs quite a bit, just not this time of year. I don't use indicator rigs much only because my rivers / streams aren't very conducive to it.

Probably safe to say the otter ate all those dink's parents in that one stream. The way it moved you could tell it was eating well. I still highly enjoyed the show, seeing new water. Breaking your $7-8 hundred dollar fly rod was obviously no bueno!

Sorry our state wasn't kinder to you but there are some good lessons in what rivers become with over fishing due to many factors, NC still has some good fishing but we loose more every day and there are more and more anglers crammed into less and less water. Rather than complain it is just a good lesson on the actual impacts of over fishing and how we can do more as individuals to be tactful about the butterfly effect of our time on the water. The fishing doesn't disappear the quality just goes way down and the next generation thinks it's fantastic cause that's all they know. Thanks for making a real video on how beautiful our area is even though good fishing ain't common anymore.
@hardmanfishing9 ай бұрын
Overfishing is a weird problem… because it affects anglers but I’m not sure it does much to fish numbers. The game just becomes how do you catch a fish that’s been fished for or how do you find water that hasn’t been as pressured at the end of the weekend. Both things I do on some of my local waters but struggle to do in areas where I’m not familiar with the water. Now if you’re losing water to private land or something along those lines then that’s an entirely different issue 😂 either way I always enjoy visiting NC. Thanks for watching!!

It would be helpful to at least identify the county that you are fishing in. Also more information on the flys that you are fishing through out would be helpful. I enjoyed seeing your videos. Thanks
@dennissmathers53919 ай бұрын
Looks like the rewards of fishing that first stream does not match the effort and expense of reaching it. Or the unskippable ads viewers have to endure to view it. (not to mention the built in infomercial) Its difficult to tell for sure, but that waterfall looks eerily similar to one of the 3 main waterfalls found on SNOWBIRD creek near Robbinsville NC and the Joyce Kilmer forest.
@hardmanfishing9 ай бұрын
If you don’t like KZbin’s unskippable ads then don’t watch KZbin 😂 don’t get mad at me. Also who said the first stream was expensive or tough to get too?? I’m trying to figure out if this comment is even about this video or not😂 anyways happy Easter!! Have a great rest of your day
@dennissmathers53919 ай бұрын
Whos mad? The solution is one click away! Dont blame KZbin as you were the one that monetized this video out the ass, including a lengthy built in infomercial of your own. You mean to say that a trip to that location does not involve considerable expense and effort? A remarkable fisherman you are indeed!!!!! @@hardmanfishing

A really beautiful place but a shame about the fishing not being up to expectations. What a tragedy breaking that rod, another repair job for you to do. $700+dollars, about £600, is an extremely expensive rod. Is all fishing tackle so very costly in the USA? Your casting skills are amazing to be able to fly fish in those woods.
